Smoke on the Water: What We Can Learn 50 Years After Cleveland's Apocalyptic Burning River
In June 1969, a fire on Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River—the last in a series of big blazes spanning decades—spurred the government to make sweeping environmental changes that altered the course of the coun...

I talked about the fires in environmental policy and law today BUT ALSO how the Cuyahoga has been recovered AND ALSO how the NEORSD is one of the best accounts on social media

indeed. from the mid 1800s until 1969, the Cuyahoga River had become so polluted that it was considered lifeless and had caught fire on at least 13 documented occasions. June 22, 1969 was the last and the river has since become an environmental comeback story.

I save the puzzle pages from the free paper you get on the bus for doing at a later time. Did @neorsd.org set this wordsearch?
A square grid of letters, in which are hidden a number of words. The words you need to find are listed below the grid. These puzzles are usually themed, & this one's all about water, plumbing, waste water etc. The words include blockage, culvert, leak, sanitation, sewer, stopcock, & water.

Clean Water Fest (in the rain!) was a total blast! Few pics because they’re of my kids’ painted faces, but the swag game was yet again elite (finally got the branded travel mug by winning Connect 4 as a family, and OF COURSE issue 2 of Lake Erie League!). Thanks, @neorsd.org!
Rather a lot of charming swag (stickers, water bottles, notebooks, pens, squishy poop emojis) acquired at Clean Water Fest 2026.

This is why you take your kids (and yourself) to events like this, science is fun, sewage processing is neat-o, and clean water is clutch. Outreach is vital for public education.
