It's a really good week when you get a new @tkingfisher.com book. In a great week, you get TWO !

Pictured: Daggerbound, and The Sworn Soldier. Daggerbound is the second Swordheart book, starring Sweetness the mule and others. Sworn soldier is an omnibus that includes the three Alex Easton novellas: What Moves the Dead; What Feasts at Night; and What Stalks the Deep. The last, set in the coal fields and mines of West Virginia, is my favorite.

I was very sad to read that CJ Cherryh has decided to retire from writing. From her FB post "No problems with daily life or doing creative stuff or enjoying life in general. But the ability to control narrative is just not what it was ...". May her retirement with Jane be long and wonderful.

I was delighted to discover, and immediately buy, the new Dr Gretta Helsing novel, Strange New World. Thanks @ceruleancynic.bsky.social for a great, fun series. It would make a splendid TV series.

I wish bluesy had language translation, because my high school French is not cutting it.
