Not enough media conversation around abolishing the triple lock touches on UK state pensions being bloody awful. The triple lock is very slowly improving them towards EU levels. Rich pensioners we see today are due to final salary schemes and our generation don't have those.

Having difficult conversations around kids football at the moment. My view is that they're 11 and none of them are going to be professionals so the real aim each week is that they want to play again the following week. Winning matches is important but only because it keeps them motivated to play.

Advertising person here. The new world is working out what you can do that AI can't, or what you can do with AI's help that other people can't. That is not posters. Don't feel bad if you hadn't realised though, the big advertising agencies haven't either and they're heading for very serious trouble.

Had a few calls from HMRC recently to sort out an issue and they sound SO MUCH like scams. Your phone rings and somebody with a rudimentary grasp of English pauses silently for ages, says hi, introduces themselves by their first name and then asks for your address and DOB to confirm your ID.

They took a tool that, among other things, is a very powerful automated hacking toolkit, set it a research problem and loosed it unsupervised onto the open web. Someone's gone rogue but it ain't the AI.

There's some awful bollocks talked in marketing. It's hugely inefficient because it has no pricing signals and that's why it fails to make niche products. Also, there's the minor issue that some people always refuse to be communist and you have to give up your project or put them in gulags.

There's a weird thing that happens with Claude Code where you hand off a task because it will do it faster & better than you, but then there's a gap and nothing to fill it with. You can't context-switch because the gap isn't long enough, so it's dead time. Use it to post vaguely on Bluesky I guess.
