The game is Korean and does seem to support English, but is stuck on mobile platforms from what I can tell. Looks like there were plans for a Steam version that fell through.

Congrats, the long wait has been rewarded with good fortune. Also, I did not know that S styles were also subject to the "pull now and get a free LB level" bonus.

Just be aware that the editor base tends to lean Right and is rather vulnerable to unfiltered subjective/opinionated writing. Good for gleaning the so-called "male dominant" Korean communities' views and interests, and maybe some niche series might be written about, but caution is needed.

I'm happy to publicly come forth as the JP-to-EN translator of My Journey to Her by Yūna Hirasawa. It's a great honor to be the first openly transgender & nonbinary native Japanese translator to be credited for the translation of an Eisner Award-winning manga. 😊 Please see my full statement below.

A statement from Mishima Kitan. Due to the word count restriction of the ALT text field, the ALT text is split into two parts. The second part is in the subsequent image in the thread of this post.

Statement Part 1:
"Hi, everyone. This is Mishima Kitan. Today, I'm happy to publicly come forth as the Japanese-to-English translator of My Journey to Her, an autobiographical transgender memoir, by Yūna Hirasawa. My Journey to Her won the Eisner Award for the category of Best Digital Comic in 2025. I'm very glad that this significant book has been released physically as well.

I've been using English as my second language for over thirty years now. It's a great honor to be the first openly transgender and nonbinary native Japanese translator to be credited for the translation of an Eisner Award-winning manga.

At the time of the digital release of this book in 2024, I had some personal concerns about being credited so I requested to be anonymous in the initially released edition. In March 2026, Haruko Hashimoto (the editor of the digital edition) had reached out to inform me that the book was getting a physical release and to ask if I'd like to be credited as the translator. Upon consideration, I replied, "Yes." I felt ready to be credited as the translator and I also felt that this present moment was a historically important timing to confirm the credit.

Having my own fair share of transphobic experiences and having to entirely cutting ties with my blood family in Japan at age 20 to live and transition on my own, this memoir was one of the most emotionally challenging book to translate. But, as with any work that I do, I gave my best effort."

Remember when Crunchyroll tried to make their subtitles significantly worse a year ago? They backtracked on it at the time, but I suspected they were just delaying their plans to shift from Aegisub to OOONA, and sadly, it seems I was right: Crunchyroll is actively pushing OOONA subs to users now.

There was a 2021 Korean fanfic about a genderbent Malfoy, and a Korean artist had drawn fanart in 2024, which inspired a different artist to make another fanart last week and cause a fad. Won bonus points from that crowd since the artist openly denounces trans readings as "just wouldn't work".

Friendly reminder that Duolingo was initially concieved to trick people into translating articles for free, which they later used as training data for MTL algorithms. Duolingo's primary purpose has NEVER been about teaching you a language, even from the start! slate.com/technology/2...

If it doesn’t charge users and, so far, doesn’t serve them any ads, how does Duolingo make money? It tricks you into working as an unpaid translation service. At the end of some lessons, Duolingo will ask you if you want to practice by translating a real-world document. Which will turn out to be, say, a BuzzFeed article. By melding together enough stabs at this task from high-level Duolingo users, the app can render a surprisingly accurate translation. Which is worth good money. So far, Duolingo has contracts with BuzzFeed and CNN to translate stories from English into languages such as Spanish, French, and Portuguese. This service is already earning Duolingo hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, but von Ahn predicts he will be adding a raft of new clients soon. “The language translations market is huge,” he says. “It’s a $30 billion per year market.”

The puzzles themselves are designed by a group of puzzle experts called Quizknock, and they posted interviews with musicians who worked on the main theme. So we know there's *some* human involvement in those areas. Other parts of the game I cannot vouch for.

When translators say they hate doing MTPE because it's faster to just do it from scratch and results in better material, we're not exaggerating. If I was a proofreader and a translator handed me this, I would immediately tell the PM to fire them. No translation is genuinely better than an MT in loc.

My impression was that the arguments there always focused more on artistic integrity and ethics of training, and that part doesn't seem to have changed much. The showcase was just an embarrassment of such a massive scale that it ignited active debates.
