Happy Friday! (for some!) Apparently not every day is a good day.

Rail travel often has FEWER barriers than other modes of transport. 🙈 Can't you just say you're doing it because *it's the right thing do do*, rather than being defensive? That would be genuine leadership.

I feel that public officials are making a huge mistake by framing the argument like this though: “Expanding eligibility for the Disabled Persons Railcard will help more disabled people who face additional barriers when travelling by train access more affordable journeys."

This would coincide with "Eligibility under the expansion will be based on the impact a person's condition has on their ability to travel by rail rather than a diagnosis alone" which was the change made in March.

My clients trust me when I offer them flexible scheduling, so launching my first ever special offer! Who knew that October was such a month for extended training, travels and changing jobs?! More at: naturallypaul.com/blog/october...

October Special Offer! - Naturally Paul
We’re nearly in October, and I’ve looked at my diary for the month ahead to combat time blindness, and can now offer my first ever special offer! A number of my clients are taking training, going on holidays and changing jobs, giving me more temporary additional capacity next month, so I can offer up to 4 discounted sessions, at £100 per session, rather than £140 per session. This gives you an opportunity to have one or more no commitment sessions, to see if you like coaching and decide whether it works for you.  That said, I still recommend booking an absolutely free intro call. It helps you come better prepared for a coaching session, so book both if you want. Where are you at currently? Coaching can be explained, but is best experienced. In short, it’s about learning how to work with yourself through practical exercises. I don’t actually mind whether you have ADHD or not! It isn’t about explaining things, but only because there’s a better way of changing behaviour – we learn best by doing rather than reading about it, which is why self-help videos, reading and AI will only get you so far. Health note: Don’t worry about “wasting” anyone’s time. You want to learn about ADHD and its potential impact, and that’s enough for me.  What topics can I discuss? One of the main questions I tend to ask is “What would you like to practically achieve with today’s session?” and then we’re off. It’s a wide question, but if it’s too large, working on more specifically targeting the goal, can be a rewarding process in of itself. You can check out my 5* reviews on Trust Pilot (overall rating appears lower, due to the way Trust Pilot tries to stop people gaming the system), although I do need to gather some more reviews! Also free to check out my blog whilst you are here as it gives insights from my coaching sessions about topics which may come up and how they are tackled. (or you can also book multiple, all at the same discounted rate, as long as they are in October) p.s. Remember to come back to this page to book your discounted coaching session! Found this post interesting? Click “like” on LinkedIn, as this really helps me and supports my work, or feel free to share. I write about neurodivergency matters, with a dash of inclusivity and tech. Subscribe directly to avoid missing out or you can have a nose through my back catalogue. Want even more? You can follow me on Bluesky and/or LinkedIn.

Interesting thing is that I rarely (never?) set a timeline for a specific goal. Strong progress can be made, but goal implies completeness which is a layer of perfectionism. Generally the process through up underlying issues which the clients aren't aware of; usually needing to be addressed first.

The frustrating news: extended coaching can be required because there can be lots of issues to unpack, some obvious, much not so obvious. The silver lining: putting in the effort creates results that will last a lifetime.

Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
OBSERVATION I’m seeing this as layers to unpack. You need to deal with the noisy elements (or perhaps surface manifestations), to be able to listen to what’s going on underneath.

I’m seeing issues around gender and race come to the fore. Unwanted gifts such as society’s expectations: so common that we think of them as our own, when they are other people’s. What were the causes? More to the point, what do clients want to do with the knowledge they now have, going forward?

Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
AFTER A YEAR For my current clients, the theme I’m currently noting is about identity. I don’t know whether it is the coaching space, or whether there are other environmental causes: what baggage has society bestowed upon us, whether consciously or unconsciously?

We often touch upon deeper truths and hidden internal conflicts, which take time to work through, appreciate, understand and resolve.

AFTER 3 MONTHS Eventually a number of the most urgent problems (those fires) are put out and we then return to aspirational goals. Sometimes they aren’t personal, they are priorities from other people (e.g. they are workplace or home life).
100
Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
Often what actually happens is that they are knocked sideways by real life day-time issues, such as constantly changing demands at work and navigating workload and interpersonal issues. So the first few sessions are often – but not always – about learning certain fire-fighting skills.
100
Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
Typically, clients come to me with aspirations such as improving time management or being “efficient”, that they wish to address within this time period.
100
Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
I’m guessing that some of this might be down to a UK government-funded scheme called Access to Work which typically pays for around 3 month’s worth of weekly coaching. This is best thought of as a “sticking plaster” solution. It covers the cost of introducing the topic, a taster.

Paul Ginsberg @naturallypaul.com · 24/09/2026
When I have my intro calls with clients, I say that coaching takes around nine months, but it is highly variable. Let’s dive into this! THE FIRST 3 MONTHS Three months is a useful placeholder because people come to me with the expectation that a “complete package” can be delivered in that time.

Actually, that's a good clue. It's not that it was unexpected, but certainly requires more focus as I'm critiquing myself which is an incredibly painful experience. Still some work to do on RSD, in certain aspects of my life!

I'm a reasonably successful life coach. Today's hack. A packet of 5 raisin & oat biscuits from the co-op. The reason? I have to prepare a presentation. I'm a *coach*, not a *presenter*. Sometimes a quarter of a day's calories IS a reasonable way to get the job done! [no photo evidence - all gone🤷🏻]

this logic applies to literally any sector or organisation, large or small. it is why 90% of outsourcing fails. Because outsourcing is seen as the fix, rather than the conclusion. Inefficient business processes outsourced are just profit for the supplier and pain for the customer.

Grim reality of LinkedIn. Do a post celebrating I've got something in a magazine, with no actual details whatsoever, the **algorithm** picks it up & I get plenty of views/engagements. Do an article with a meaningful explainer or a heartfelt story, absolutely fuck all - LI algo. ignores completely.
