The 2022 AG race was won by 20k votes. It's so important we drive out as many votes here in Minneapolis and the 5th district. The alternative is having a Trump AG who doesn't care about consumer protection and also work to do Trumps agenda here in Minnesota. We need folks to volunteer to GOTV!

Today I was canvassing in South Minneaplis with my friend @mrotzie.bsky.social and met with a voter who moved back to Minnesota after some time out east, planning to vote Dem but wasn't familiar with what is at stake with the AG race and making sure we reelect Keith. This is why canvassing matters.

Some of the escalations we're seeing, including the attack on Ilhan Omar's home (I will not pretend this act was "investigatory"), are desperate acts. But we must remember that desperate people can be very dangerous. A domestic abuse victim, for example, is in the most danger when trying to leave.

Department Responds to Commercial Building Fire
October 11, 2026 (Minneapolis) - At
approximately 4:03 p.m., Minneapolis firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a single-story commercial building located at 1300 E. Franklin Ave. Upon arrival, crews found an open door with fire visible inside.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to attack the fire and entered the building to conduct searches after reports of people seen running out of the structure. Inside, crews encountered heavy shelving and large amounts of stored items blocking aisles, making it difficult to reach the fire. Some shelving collapsed onto hose lines, and as fire conditions worsened, crews were ordered to evacuate for their safety.
During the evacuation, two firefighters had shelving fall and block their exit, prompting a Mayday call. Both firefighters were able to safely exit the building but suffered minor burn injuries and heat exhaustion. They were evaluated on scene by CMC paramedics, transported to a local hospital for further assessment, and have since been released.

A second and third alarm were requested to bring additional personnel and equipment. Fire crews continue battling the fire from the exterior using two aerial ladder water towers applying large volumes of water. The building has sustained a partial roof collapse. Crews are making steady progress in containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Firefighters will remain on scene until the fire is fully extinguished.
"The safety of our firefighters and our community is always our top priority," said Assistant Chief Melanie Rucker. "Our crews responded quickly, acted courageously, and handled extremely dangerous conditions with professionalism."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The MFD incident number is 26-0050679.
