For anyone who wonders why gas prices matter, please understand that the reason you're seeing higher prices on EVERYTHING in the stores is because of transportation costs skyrocketing due to Trump's pointless, stupid war.

Unwritten rule of the writers room: if a story point has been “room canon” for at least a full episode, don’t come in one day and say, “this doesn’t work” unless the VERY next thing you say is a workable alternative. Pointing out holes is easy. Pitch the fix not the problem

The Hollywood Palladium played Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” as the walk-out music at last night’s Courtney Barnett / Built To Spill show. As soon as it started, nearly every face I saw, lit up and sung along. It was one of those small but beautiful moments of humanity that I cling to these days.

The few times I’ve been tasked with reading writers for staffing, I’ve always read the shortest scripts first. Showrunners are insanely busy - if your script is bloated, there’s a good chance they won’t read the whole thing. Make it compelling and concise.

My kids got back from summer camp and loved it! Not surprising. Every camp is different but they all seem to share 1 thing: kids are encouraged to be weird, silly, and wild. And during a developmental period when most kids are nervous to be their authentic selves at school, camp encourages it.

There are many, but the first one that comes to mind is Musha in Torrance. It was the first izakaya restaurant I ever ate at and it not only set the bar far too high for all future izakaya restaurants, but also gets me to order pork belly whenever I encounter it, only to invariably be disappointed.

My kids are great eaters. Most of the dishes I love to cook, they love to eat. Baked potato bar is not one of them. But they left for summer camp today, so I didn’t hear any complaints when I made this absolute unit for dinner tonight.

On a picnic table, a plate is topped with an air fryer baked potato, shredded cheddar, bacon, sweet hot jalepenos, roasted broccoli, sour cream, and green onion on top.

Watching Pen15 with my middle school daughter. Got to the masturbation ep. She did not know what masturbation was so I explained it to her. Me: “It’s a totally normal, healthy thing. But don’t do it in the school bathroom like Maya.” I think that was better than what my mom told me: “Sinner!”

Not everyone’s doing it. Mike isn’t. I’m not. My writers’ room is not. In fact, I only know of 1 writer who admits to using AI to brainstorm with. Some undoubtedly use it. But clickbait headlines like this create a permission structure for more to do so. You don’t have to and you shouldn’t.

My 9YO during her improv camp performance… Setting: Dracula’s Castle Scene Partner: “It sure is creepy here.” Daughter: “Yeah! So you know what we should do? COMMIT ARSON!” She proceeded to work arson into every other scene she did. Afterwards, the other parents gave me some very concerned looks.

Took me 30 years to grow a beard, so I kept it for the next 14 and finally shaved it off this week. I’ve gotten a lot of “you look different!” but not a single “you look good!” Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 30 years to grow it back.
