Kiss the stars Their spark the light That hastens me To join the night A waning moon Enlightens me To leap for joy With alacrity Take my hand For a fanciful dance You’ll never know A better chance To spin upon This spinning orb A world of joy Within absorbed #UnchainedSymphonies

Each day I come back Tired, broken drained Each night I find The strength I need To face the morn again For I know beauty Stronger, stranger Than the fairest morning skies I know the gleam of brilliance waiting In her evening eyes #vss365

Stand on the edge of reality Look into it If you dare Indescribable truths await To terrify you there A world on fire Lit by fools & fuels Fed by fabricated lies Skewed beyond all sense of right I’ll step back now Behind the light To lose myself In rhymes & night #OurPoetryX

Once more Through breaking clouds Gray & heavy with rain A light shone in To brighten my heart Forgotten storm Discarded cares All that mattered The sound of laughter shared Of roots well watered Swelling in their earth All shadows fled When souls are met & fed

As a kid, I thought adults had everything figured out. Now I get excited when the store has my favorite bread, I have no idea what I’m doing half the time, and I’m pretty sure everyone else is winging it too. Here’s some poems. 💙💙💙 #poetry #blueskypoets #writingcommunity #BlueSkyPoetry #SkyPoet
A humorous, affectionate poem about how growing older changes our definition of happiness, until something as ordinary as buying a good kitchen sponge becomes a small shared joy.
The Good Sponge
When I was young,
I dreamed of having money,
freedom,
and a house of my own.
Yesterday,
I bought a new kitchen sponge.
I showed it to my wife.
She agreed
it was a good sponge.
I don't know
when this became happiness,
but I think
we're doing okay.A playful poem about the endless responsibilities of adulthood, particularly the exhausting realization that deciding what to make for dinner is a problem that returns every single day.
Dinner Again
Nobody warned me
that adulthood meant
deciding what to eat
every single day
for the rest
of my natural life.
I made dinner yesterday.
Apparently,
that doesn't count
for today.
At this point,
I'd welcome
a little jury duty.A reflective poem about reaching the age your father was when you believed he knew everything, and realizing that his confidence may have concealed the same uncertainty and fear you experience as an adult.
The Age My Father Was
I reached the age
my father was
when I thought
he knew everything.
I remember asking him
what we should do
when something went wrong.
He always had an answer.
Now I wonder
how many times
he was just as frightened
as I am,
and answered anyway.A warm, relatable poem about never quite feeling like a proper adult, despite managing everyday responsibilities. It suggests that growing up may simply mean caring for others and doing your best without knowing all the answers.
No Instructions Included
I thought someday
I'd wake up
and feel like an adult.
Instead,
I lose my keys,
forget why I entered rooms,
and occasionally eat cereal
over the kitchen sink.
But the bills get paid.
The dog gets fed.
Someone I love
knows they are loved.
Maybe growing up
isn't knowing what you're doing.
Maybe it's doing your best
without the instructions

Years grow long Leaves once fresh & green Are brittle, brown & falling free But for a week or two They glow in thanks For another year Blessed with rain & sunshine A rainbow of love To delight before The limbs are bare Skies grow gray And color fades away #OurPoetryX @ourpoetryx.bsky.social

Silent promise In the space that night allows Consulting with my demons Remembering your heartbeat Racing in the summer sun This fall, I vow to dream a little more Daring to believe you’ll stay Wanting to find better days Under blinking stars And falling leaves #kaytpoemprompts

Hard looks in soft moments Hands calloused from the oar Follow currents tested before Eyes low with our hearts We each know the score Let’s try not to drift away, not again Into the mist, down the long reach Around on our wake, limp & sore As we’ve labored before #kaytpoemprompts

Feet stumble on the shore Eyes failing to follow Foggy paths Waves weave their sorrow Steady rhythm plays Heart breaks Without reason She’s drifted away Faint echoes of laughter All that remain Light shines through a mist Distorted & cold Calling her name #OurPoetryX @OurPoetryX

Those silent seams Of fading summer Of autumn slipping in The faintest hint Of red-tinged leaves Appearing down the glen They call my soul To years gone by To days upon the road My mother pointing out to me Where deepest rainbows run Alight in fading sun #OurPoetryX @ourpoetryx.bsky.social

If only… After night runs long She could be here To greet this dawn It doesn’t need words Just eyes & sighs An open palm On the small of her back With time to stand Breathing in cool air Recalling promises in the dark Imagining the day ahead Then diving back in bed
