www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026... The United States is withdrawing all its bombers from RAF Fairford and returning them to bases in America. I've questioned whether using a base so close to civilian communities for controversial operations against Iran posed unacceptable risks for local people.

I have again written to the Prime Minister as news continues to develop on the RAF Fairford story. I have asked for a meeting with him, together with defence representatives, to ask the questions residents have put to me and to consider what lessons should be learned from this.

Everyday since early Sunday morning there has been a different public consensus on the truth behind what happened around RAF Fairford. It’s important not to jump to conclusions while investigations are on going, and to be vigilant about any new ‘information’ you may read online.

Our story is a compelling and important one for the country. People feel their power has been taken from them. While populists encourage them to look sideways when laying blame, it should be the job of Liberals to remind people to look upward. www.radixbigtent.org.uk/news-comment...

It is encouraging that the PM is giving time to farmers in the South West, but his measures simply do not go far enough. It’s why we are pushing for the accelerated roll out of new Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS), properly funding it with an extra £1bn a year.

For the parts of my constituency serviced by Wessex Water, they are asking people to reduce their water usage to avoid what would be a first hosepipe ban in 50 years. This July alone has seen 97% less rain than average. Small reductions in usage will help prevent a hosepipe ban.
