“The real thing that was unfair was the overall takeover of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) by the Clinton campaign. The Clinton campaign ran the DNC. We know that because of millions of WikiLeaks pages revealed memos about the way money was being moved around inside the DNC.”

If I were to interview someone for a job, and they had all the credentials, and they were a good fit, why would I care about them bringing an iced coffee to the interview? When an interviewer/entity is focused on *that* (superficial) detail, they are going for optics above all else.

The iced coffee thing is born out of the same impulse as “but what was she wearing,” “he had preexisting conditions,” “well, didn’t they know [traditional clothing] is unprofessional?” Anything to shift blame from systemic failures to a group of people already conveniently scapegoated.

This whole thread is good. I want to reinforce that for people on disability and otherwise below the poverty line, that belt can’t tighten any further. It’s as clueless as the avocado toast argument to say things like “well, people will have to give up luxuries.” Like safe toys for kids?

This is shameful discriminatory and misogynistic reporting. People aren’t choosing disability to be “cool”. Young women don’t have to “prove” to you that they’re sick. Disability rates are skyrocketing because we’ve left a disabling virus rip through the population for over 6 years.
