I missed Easter because I was sick. My family gave me an orchid & a picture frame of my godchildren. Perfectly reasonable then, as people see me walking home, that they wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. It stopped me in my tracks—“Uh, thank you. But not yet.” I take it as a good sign.

If you’re in the US, you can watch PBS for free using the app. There’s a series of documentaries called American Experience that’s really good—each is about a different event in history. Go watch The one about the Gilded Age in season 30. It feels so familiar, it’s genuinely eerie.
