Consider it in terms of the War on Terror, in which our political/media class created an elaborately idiotic moral framework for themselves, by which helping the world’s mightiest empire stomp the Middle East was an act of astonishing bravery, and opposing it was frightful ideological derangement.

I don't know if it's a help or a hindrence with the FF faithful that O'Callahan looks like he might need to urgently make some lifestyle changes for his health, despite his apparent enthusiasm for cycling.

Plenty of this going on over the Fairford “terror attack” too. Impossible to guess what has happened because all of the reporting is just these lads listening to the government and then repeating it, seemingly without any analysis at all. I remember it being at least somewhat better in the 2000s.

And let's not forget the US launched bombing raids from the UK on Iran. Britain is a party to the US/Israeli war on Middle Eastern sovereignty, self determination and school children. Complaining that Iran might respond to attacks from the UK is stomach turning hypocrisy.

The complete neoconization of EU foreign policy thanks to an Atlantacist fifth column. And it's not restricted to the post 2004 accession states, France and Germany issued statements of support for the US/Israeli attacks on Iran even knowing about the Minab school massacre.

In fact Western media didn't even cover the Saudi attack on Sana'a Airport because of US ally droit de bombardement aérien, if you search for it now you have to look at alternative media. They did of course cover the Ansar Alllah retaliation as an "escalation". www.dropsitenews.com/p/yemen-sana...

Ansarallah Vows to Block Saudi Access to Bab al-Mandab After Strikes on Sana’a
The first Saudi airstrikes against Ansarallah in four years threaten to upend their tenuous ceasefire, just as the truce between the U.S. and Iran is crumbling over the Strait of Hormuz.

Those with a memory longer than yesterday may remember that the current Saudi war on Yemen started on July 13th when MBS's jets bombed Sana'a airport to stop a government plane landing. Did Kallas condemn that attack on civilian infrastructure in Yemen? She did in her hole.

I watched the last episode of Andor again, mainly to see the final montage but it's a really beautiful looking piece of work. It makes me feel slightly melancholy, I don't think we're going to see finely crafted TV about revolutionary sacrifice again, I don't know how Gilroy managed to pull it off.

Zionism is racism though, it's not up for debate. The only people arguing otherwise are either deeply ignorant of actually existing Zionism or ZIonists themselves. You could ask a Palestinian, the main victims of Zionism, but you won't of course.

Liberals don't whitewash racist colonial violence challenge failed again. It's socially awkward and professionally risky for Western pundits to acknowledge that Zionism is racism so you end up prioritizing the feelings of Zionists over the lives of Palestinians (and Lebanese, and Iranians). Woeful.

The Israeli political, media and military leadership should receive the Nuremberg Trials treatment, every member of the IDF would need to be assessed for war crimes and a project of reeducation would have to take place for the general public.

The core of this worldview isn't rooted in partisanship or foreign policy positions but about who has the right to political expression. Purity tests must only be applied against out-groups, not the in-group, and any attempt to shift the border will be resisted furiously.

Zionism is 150 years old, it's a colonial era European ideology and European liberal indulgence of it has led to ethnic cleansing, the mass murder of children and the effective destruction of post WW2 international humanitarian law. "Zionism isn't racism" is social awkwardness in place of analysis.

Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
There can't be room for Zionism in any political movement that purports to stand for humanitarian universalism or even basic standards of liberal equality. Unfortunately a really large chunk of older Jewish people are thoroughly indoctrinated, but that's their problem, not the British Greens.

Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Early 20th century Zionist literature is literally filled with discussion about how the natives are going to need to defeated (and implicitly expelled) because Zionism is a project of ethnic replacement and supremacy! There is no other Zionism but the racist variety that was implemented.

20th century Zionism always implicitly involved ethnic cleansing on the basis of ethnicity, it's racist even in theory. The problem is now a social one in the West, a majority of Jewish people and almost all the right adhere to a racist ideology and dealing with that is both delicate and unpleasant.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV's Al encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah's team then privately lobbied the pope's advisers "to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously." Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.

I understand that the pilot was an Indian national and I can't blame him for not wanting to go down with the plane but also you should be utterly indifferent (at most) to the killing of Israeli civilians until there's some kind of parity of suffering with all of Israel's victims.

The Irish government aren't my representatives, I did not vote for them! And the Lisbon treaty would not have been passed a second time except the government claimed that the Triple Lock would prevent them from doing exactly what they're trying to do now. And the UN isn't the Russian government.

Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
The UN triple lock is there is because the Irish government of the day are also "someone else" (I did not vote for them) and the public are justifiably suspicious of their motivations because of the kind of principle/actor problem that affect representative democracies (especially under capitalism).

Perhaps do some reading on why Ireland is no longer involved in Irini.
200
Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
That's specifically why I mentioned post mandate Operation Irini, an operation that definitely isn't peacekeeping but that multiple government ministers have suggested the triple lock is unfairly stopping us from participating in.
100
Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
This is the big tell about Micheál Martins ambitions if he disposes of the triple lock, the lack of examples of the great "peace keeping" missions we're missing out on that aren't de facto NATO operations. eg: Post UN mandate Operation Irini is now partially an anti-Russian oil operation.
010
Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Why don't you come up with a "peace keeping" mission that can't get UNSC approval where the deployed forces aren't effectively on one side in a conflict?
210
Micheál @nameless-weevil.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
There's no peacekeeping mission for a European country outside the UN, any operation without UNSC or UNGA approval would be entering into a military alliance and we all know that FF/FGG badly want us involved in operations against NATO adversaries, particularly Russia.

The unpopularity is very much part of the reason Martin wants to end neutrality. It's a test of will, a way of showing politicians make policy, not the masses. And of course Martin is a sincere rightist who sees Cold War 2 as useful in disciplining and moulding public opinion in multiple ways.

It got not one moment of examination here but the involvement of the UK in the war on Iran has highlighted that their national broadcaster has replaced journalism with poundshop newspeak, explaining to the proles that helping to bomb West Asia isn't participating in a war against it.
From BBC news: RAF Fairford is located in the Cotswolds, about four miles (6.4km) south of the town of Fairford, which sits along the River Coln.

The base shares a long history with the American military, and has recently been used by US warplanes as a staging post for defensive strikes on Iran.
