The only "positive" effect that the current Hantavirus visibility may have is that may lead funding and attention for this high-fatality virus, which has recurrent outbreaks in Argentina, Chile, and elsewhere. Here doing fieldwork in Patagonia with @nahpo.bsky.social during a Hantavirus outbreak.

Invasional meltdown has been discussed in the context of pine + ectomycorrhizal fungi co-invasions but the invasibility of the fungal symbionts have been overlooked until this team work with Jenny Bhatnagar @bostonu.bsky.social and @grybas.bsky.social @jakenash12.bsky.social @dukepress.bsky.social

Have you checked our new paper in @biolinvasions.bsky.social? We tested #InvasionalMeltdown between invasive #Fungi and #InvasivePlants using #Suillus and #Pine species across an invasiveness gradient—and found that invasive Suillus only boost invasive pines. 🔗 link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Equity in science is a beautiful lie — and I’m done pretending
Science isn’t really moving towards equity; institutions are just perfecting the appearance of equity. We need to build an alternative system.

New paper! I'm particularly excited about it We know very little about mycorrhizal fungi invasions, and our idea was that the few that could do free living, would be better at invading As often happens in science, we were wrong & learned a lot:) I❤️Science link.springer.com/article/10.1...
