I use @electionstudies.bsky.social data from 1972 to model how characters in The Simpsons would have voted in presidential elections It turns out to be very revealing about how the demographic coalitions of the Democratic and Republican parties have completely rearranged themselves...

Incredibly proud of @nadjim10.bsky.social who *brilliantly* defended his PhD dissertation "Black Canadians Through the Prism of Public Opinion" yesterday! Really happy I was able to come back to @sciencepo-udem.bsky.social for the occasion and celebrate Nadjim!

L’arme à feu… du policier
Le lien de confiance entre le BEI et les communautés affectées par la violence policière est dans un état lamentable.

Given the recent developments south of our border, I examined data from the newly released 2024 American National Study to find some reassurance. In 2024, most Americans opposed political violence. I hope this hasn't shifted in light of recent events. 🧵

OK, so curious what @patricksturg.bsky.social thinks of this. In the raw F2F @britishelectionstudy.com from 2024, the raw (unweighted) vote share is 44% Labour, 20% Conservatives. This seems a big over-statement of the actual lead?

Appreciate the shoutout from @poqjournal.bsky.social! I show misalignment btwn Black Americans’ expressed partisan & ideological identities (red line below) stems from unfamiliarity w/ terms “liberal” & “conservative,” making the standard, oft-used lib-con measure invalid for this population.

How did different racial/ethnic groups move over the course of the campaign? Here is data from our two-wave NORC panel showing that Harris increased support over Biden among Black, Hispanic & white citizens between late winter & fall 2024.
