3 reports of a grey or grey-brown big cat with pointed ears (lynx? Bobcat?) in a week – Little Cornard, 22/09/, Kesgrave 23/09, Whepstead area 26/9 - all seen late morning or early afternoon which is unusual. Long distances between these mean probably more than one of these at large in #Suffolk.

Report of a grey big cat with "big pointed ears... bigger than a medium-sized dog", 33 inches long nose to rump, 20 inches high, seen crossing the Whepstead-Rede road (near Bury St Edmunds, #Suffolk.) Seen for 30 seconds from 30-50 ft away at 14.00 on 26/09/26.

Report of a big cat 🐈 seen in Little Cornard, #Suffolk today (21/9/26) at 10.15. Described as "large", witness - sitting in a stationary car - "didn't know" how big it was and left a name but no contact details. The animal was "tawny" with white paws. 🐾 Seen walking from 200 yards away for 5 mins.

Leopardus tilcayo - the Tilcayo tiger cat of Bolivia, is a new species of cat - the first for a century. It has leopard-like spots, stripes on its face and is smaller than a domestic cat. It’s known only from 2 live specimens in a sanctuary and trailcam footage. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/s...

Report of a big cat seen near HMP Hollesley, #Suffolk at 8.30am on 06/09/26. Brown/sandy colour with "defined" black spots, "very lean, very long legs and tail, large ears....at least twice the size of our domestic male cats." Seen crossing a road between fields by a motorcyclist. Serval?

Report just in of a sighting of a "huge black cat... the size of a panther" seen in a field in Fressingfield, #Suffolk in the summer of 2025, with "huge paw prints" found nearby days later. Witnesses also heard "a very loud roar of a wild cat" at night in early summer 2026 and also on 12/9/26.

'The Mowing-Devil', printed in 1678. It recounts, as fact, an alleged incident in #Hertfordshire. A farmer saw a fiery light over his oat field one night, and then found it had been mysteriously mowed. The illustration encouraged some to believe it depicts the first Crop Circle. #WyrdWednesday

Update on Orford Ness - my source also described a pair of "yellow eyes" seen in the beam of a headlamp that followed them around the Ness at night in March 2009 for 20 minutes, adding that others had seen a lynx there by the sea defences in 2005, 2008, 2010. bigcatsofsuffolk.com/photos-of-mu...

Savannah cat (serval/Abyssinian cat hybrid) on the run in #Norfolk since June captured near Bramerton, near Norwich, with broken paw and chest wound. Microchip identifies its owner and names it as "Blaze".

Report of a dark big seen cat at 05.45 (dawn) on 18/07/26 near Oulton Broad, #Suffolk (NR32 5DW). "Washed black, grey" coloured, with a "stocky tail", witness thought it could possibly have been a black Maine Coon cat. They were aware of other local sightings of "large cats."

Report of a sighting at 23.25 on 19/07/26of "a long tail, approximately 2-3 feet" long, a "black/mottled tail" briefly seen disappearing into a hedge from 8 metres on the Boxted to Langham road (South #Suffolk). Witness who was driving "didn't see the whole animal, just the tail."
