Trump TV turning off YouTube comments ought to be illegal under the First Amendment: one of its enumerated rights is “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. Not that Trump not his minions care about the Constitution.

If prayer worked, it would be against the rules to pray to God to win your sports game as an unfair advantage.

Was adding two nonvolatile registers to the Windows x64 ABI for APX really worth the hassle and risk of changing the format of the .pdata table? If Windows considered r16-r31 volatile, no changes would’ve been necessary.

I hear that a lot of the newer game decompilation projects use AI for doing most of the work… There are really AI tools that can do this level of work? I have no idea which ones people use.

It would be nice if C/C++ had a macro that means, “on this implementation, adding to a pointer that’s cast to uintptr_t is equivalent to adding to a char* pointer when such arithmetic is defined”. In other words, a “flat-enough” address space for aligning math to be valid.

I don’t know why AMD hasn’t released support for execute-only memory on their non-Sony CPUs. Based on the PS5 Linux kernel patch, it looks like a straightforward EFER enable bit and a new PTE bit 58 “NDA: no data access”. I’m guessing that there is a CPUID bit somewhere too.

I wish x64 Windows had an ARM64 emulator for testing. It’d be a lot easier to work with ARM64 Windows development without needing a remote debugger constantly. Until there are desktop-level ARM64 Windows machines available, anyway.

Screenshots from the end of my third FF5 Four Job Fiesta run this year: monk / beastmaster / summoner / samurai. Need somewhere to upload them for proof for the web site; might as well upload here! =^-^= Omega is possible with this party, just requires a ton of luck. It didn't seem worth the time.

Endgame stats; notably, 100% treasure chests.

The Nepalese mudslide was caused by a collapsing glacier… so 160 people died to climate change.

I wish C++ would standardize an equivalent of “#pragma pack”. It would be too complicated, though, because full correctness would require adding a third CV-qualifier (“unaligned”) and the mess that that entails all over the Standard and STL.

Xbox showed why we need physical games tonight. Anyone whose Xbox has been online in the last few hours has had their licenses revoked for every non-free digital game. Error code 0x87e107df. Even if you had set your Xbox as your “Home Xbox”, it was revoked and you can’t play offline until fixed.

How do you define “douchebag”? Pete Hegseth is a douchebag and an asshole. Donald Trump doesn’t feel like a douchebag to me. Instead, he’s a rapist, corrupt, moronic, malignant narcissist asshole. I can’t really put into words what the difference between “douchebag” and “asshole” is.

I wonder whether #GTA6 is going to tone down the social commentary. A lot of their core audience would go ballistic now if the game had Republican Space Rangers levels of satirizing conservatives. #GTAVI

And I finished my Four-Job Fiesta #FF5FJF, with Shinryu and Omega too. I had Bard, Mystic Knight, Geomancer, and Ranger. It was “fifth job”; I replaced Dragoon with Ranger when Krile joined the party. Exdeath is really easy with this loadout. Put Sing on two characters, and Chicken Knife on MK.

Proof of beating Shinryu in my FF5 Four-Job Fiesta. I copied the save file from my SD2SNES to emulator so that I could fast-forward the zombie-reflect-hide strategy that would otherwise take two hours. #FF5FJF

The victory screen after beating Shinryu in Final Fantasy 5. One character is visible with the "zombie" status. The other three characters are hidden by the bard "hide" ability. Faris, the zombie, is glowing blue due to having a Reflect Ring equipped.

At some point, the Senate Republicans will remove the filibuster. They’re fighting over it now, but eventually Trump will win. They will then pass a lot of terrible laws that will lock Republicans in power for a generation by changing election laws to benefit them severely.

This is how the SAVE Act gets forced through. It’ll mean that the Democrats can’t win the House in November by screwing up elections so much. Trump himself admitted today that the reason it needs to be passed is to prevent Democrats from winning the House.
