A bit late but we did make hamentashen last Friday for Purim! The chocolate pecan pie ones were my favorite, but the kiddos preferred the raspberry rhubarb ones

80 years ago today, Auschwitz was liberated. 86 years ago, my grandfather was in Vienna saying goodbye to his father. He was released from Buchenwald on Jan 24th, 1939 and departed for England on Feb 4th. His father was killed in "Riga" Jan, 1941. How will you spend the next six years?

Buying Krapfen, my brain substituted "arcoíris" for "Regenbogen." The baker replied, "Italien?" And I heard "Zahlen" so I said, "Ja." She switched to speaking Italian. I do not speak Italian, and I was far too embarrassed to do anything but nod/shrug. Languages are hard.
