New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...

We're looking to do an emergency recording about the ACHP vote and the impact on #Section106. Are there any archaeologists with knowledge of the situation who would be willing to provide a 5-10 min discussion about their concerns? If yes, please email womeninarchaeology@gmail.com ASAP. Thank you!

So a majority of #archaeology in the US is driven by Section 106. Most archaeologists work for the #Crm industry. This is also the mechanism by which 99% of preservation occurs in this country. It is about to go away.

Civil war + flooding have endangered cultural heritage 🏺 in #Sudan. Heritage for Peace published a series of 3 reports to 2024. Now UNOSAT published a report covering damage to heritage from 2023-now using satellite imagery. It is not comprehensive. More work is required. unosat.org/products/4225

I recently returned from a trip to Iraq where I attended two conferences and visited various places. The first conference was on countering extremism and terrorism and included a session on cultural heritage. The second conference was the 5th edition of an annual archaeology conference [1/?]
