This year, FAs successfully defended trans care, HIV research, and community health programs at the UC from feds' illegal attacks. Yet, political interference in higher ed continues, shuttering programs and censoring what we teach. As we celebrate Pride, we must remember that the fight continues.
The text Happy Pride! and "Defend Queer Studies, Gender-affirming care, lgbtqia+ history, trans rights, anti-discrimination law, gender studies, hiv research, community health programs" is on the left. On the right is a rainbow image with the acronyms of the ten faculty associations. On the bottom left are the words "Fight for the Future of Higher Ed" and the logos of the Council of UC Faculty Associations and the AAUP.

After ICE deported Wendy Hernandez Reyes, it turned her 3-year-old son Orlin over to her sister’s estranged partner, who tortured Orlin and beat him to death. I can’t say what I think should happen to those responsible without violating this website’s TOS. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...
Because the service had been arranged last minute, the funeral home on a busy street in Atlanta could only offer them one hour.
Orlin wore a long-sleeved shirt and a tan vest with a striped bow tie and matching pants.
The clothes concealed his injuries. A new teddy bear was tucked beside him.
Embroidered into the satin lining of his casket was "Principito," or "Little Prince."
His full name was embossed on the coffin:
Orlin Josue Hernandez Reyes.
McCaffrey and Hernandez's sister had to hold Hernandez up as she walked trembling toward her son. Once she regained the strength to stand, she stood over him and stroked his face and chest.
"I never wanted to leave you," she whispered repeatedly. "I wanted to bring you with me.
My son."

Map titled "ICE Facilities of Interest" in the US. Bubbles, sized by 500-15,000 beds, show statuses. Side panel lists totals: Warehouse Canceled (12), Prospective Warehouses (6), Warehouses Bought (10), Warehouses Paused (1). Large bubbles are in Texas, Missouri, and Utah. The map uses statuses like Sale Canceled (green), Prospective Site (yellow), Bought by ICE (red), Temporary Restraining Order (light blue), and Conversion in Progress (orange).
