“She’s just a translator” shows that you don’t understand what translation is. Some of this comes from the ‘automation’ of translation, through things like Google translate. It’s as though it’s just looking words up in a dictionary. No. It’s an art and a science at once. To get meaning and feeling.

I'm quite proud of this attempted translation of a manifestly untranslatable song by Serge Gainsbourg. The rhyme scheme is far too complex to allow it to be both a literal and a poetic translation of the original. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

There it is
Seven prints of the cover art for La Déesse, with not-bad colour registration! The one referred to earlier as a half a print has a slightly less legible title.

@andrewwyld.bsky.social is making a limited edition print of the cover art for our single. We've got two takers so far. Now all he has to do is line the blue layer up correctly on all of these ....
Six and a half lino prints of the red layer of the cover art for La Déesse, showing a beautiful woman stood in front of just the shadows of a Citroën DS (the rest of the car is depicted in the blue layer). The lino itself, mounted on a cardboard alignment jig, and the ink tray and brayer roller are on a table. You can't see the press, which is a cheap IKEA shelf element with a piece of cardboard on it that Andrew sits on in order to get that all important pressure distributed evenly over the paper, he hopes. He is considering screen printing for the next one ....

Yes, that view again.
The famous view from Queen's Park. Various spires fading into the distance; beyond them, Ben More under a summer-evening sky. In the left foreground are two people walking away from camera, because C18th/C19th landscapes always have something like that and why shouldn't I?

With Penelope Keith’s passing, I got to thinking about Paul Eddington, in his final days, facing the camera that one last time, despite the shitty hand life had dealt him, and the courage it must have taken to do so. Given the chance to spin some grandstanding bullshit, he chose to say this instead:
“A journalist once asked me what I would like my epitaph to be and I said I think I would like it to be ‘he did very little harm’. And that’s not easy. Most people seem to me to do a great deal of harm. If I could be remembered as having done very little, that would suit me”.

Absolutely stumped. Have never seen this term, can find no definition anywhere, and can’t parse it. Anyone got the full Grove’s to hand?
A passage from Richard Greene’s book about The Planets suite by Holst, containing a excerpt from the programme note for ‘Mercury,’ which reads, ‘The movement takes the place of a scherzo and is mainly constructed [of] the welcome datacompordinary major scale with the four lower notes shifted a semitone upward.’ My finger is pictured pointing at the word, ‘datacompordinary’.

We're very close to releasing our song, La Déesse, and therefore it's time to design a cover. We're planning to sell this as a limited edition print as well. Any takers?
A half finished lino cut. The lino will form part of a two colour block print, but at this point simply has an orange Sharpie line drawing of a Citroën DS which I've then engraved into the lino with a V section gouge, also pictured. The intention is for the car to be shown in outline with the background and most of the car surface being blue. The DS engraving is basically complete, though some lines may need to be deepened and some highlights emphasised; there will also be a negative space for the second colour block.
