Virgil van Dijk doesn’t want to comment on Man City until after their appeal, and this follows Micah Richards calling on talk about City ending until after their appeal. Please, can we get one thing straight: they’re guilty. That’s a fact. It’s fine to say that. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

If you’re reading today’s papers and thinking, did I watch a different Badenoch speech, may I recommend our sanity-restoring review? “The same people who could not build a railtrack from London to Manchester for £100bn, will build the Kemi Death Star for 10bn. It’s so ludicrous as to be offensive.”

The insistence by Manchester City on still being aggressive makes little or no sense from a litigation perspective. It seems they are doing it just because they can.

I won’t dismiss his coaching ability in its entirety but I certainly would heavily discount his achievements simply because they were massively aided by the freedom to churn players, by having a more capable squad, by offering who knows what kind of bonuses & wages they otherwise couldn’t afford.

It never stops being important that, no matter what the subject, politicians like Farage, Trump & Rubio are entirely untethered from the most basic requirements of honest discourse. They might turn out to be telling the truth sometimes but only ever in the spirit of stopped clocks.

UK politics has never been a level-playing field financially. The Conservatives have always outspent other parties, & smaller parties invariably struggle for cash. But this is a different order of magnitude. It's the difference between having a larger army & an atomic bomb. Parliament *must* act.

A serious democratic society simply cannot allow this. That's £72 million from just two men. (Both, until lately, based overseas). The average UK earner (full-time) would have to work for over 1,800 years to raise that much. It's a nuclear strike on any pretence at the equality of political power

… no panic from Arsenal after they went 1-0 down because they knew, as a group, how they were going to get back into the game and went about doing it. Their so-called rivals simply don’t have that muscle memory right now. And their paths to get to that point are incredibly rocky.

This game sums up why Arsenal are title shoo-ins. They’ve been good but Chelsea way off being a team in their manager’s vision. Defensively loose and no clear attacking patterns. That’ll take time, as is case for all other teams that have undergone big change. Continuity is Arsenal’s biggest weapon.
