Strictly implementing a game's set of rules can easily be an expression of openness and curiosity, and vice versa changing or cutting a game's set of rules (especially sight unseen) can easily be an expression of comfort-seeking insularity (+)

The disdain towards systems is driven partly by (wilful?) ignorance of how to design to/for/around complexity and emergence; replacing that with the complexities of players' minds (i.e. full improv) doesn't lead to the same places because it's not the same kind of, or relation to, complexity (+)

Basically, alt-text is context-dependent in multiple ways, and sometimes an image's context makes alt-text unnecessary. Most of the time when I see people prod others to add alt-text to images, they're right, but not always

For instance, if an image just communicates the meaning of the post's text in a different medium, then alt-text probably isn't necessary and might make visually-impaired people's experience worse (you could ask “why repeat the meaning” but that's a separate issue from whether alt-text is necessary)
