The most significant change will be ports and rare esoteric bug-hunting. If a company has any sense, they will nail down and maintain dead focus on: “what tedious soul-destroying work can we replace with this” and keep it miles away from anything creative.

Jeweler drill, 0.5mm metal rod, and something that can clip it. Drill straight at both ends, tiny drop of loctite over the hole, and push the rod in. Adds rigidity. Make sure the hole is deep enough on each end or the rod is short enough. Go slow, watch for any slanting.

The rare pack-in dial controller is effectively a recovered Namco Volume controller, which itself is a subset repurpose of their NeGcon controller. Game works with both that and a PlayStation mouse. I bodged up an adapter for the Egret Mini trackball controller. Works on both EUR ‘n JPN versions.

😱😱😱😱😱 FWIW I’ve done surgery twice. Once on that big bootleg Mai (her ponytail broke) and once on a dancer Miku (same thing) I can’t say I did a perfect job. Used a jeweler’s hand drill, a metal rod, and some glue to re-attach the original model stub. (I’ll see if I can nab a photo at home)
