John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Many thanks to you for turning me on to him last year! I also enjoyed his 2016 album “Rainbow Ends”. Not quite as good as his early work for me but worth a listen. Some great guest artists on it. Seems he had a terrible recording contract, such a shame. 120 0
John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Yes, I’m sure they were raisin’ hell. His version of “New York Groove” is great. Almost as good as Hello’s. 020 0
John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Dare I say that I bought that when it was released and thought it was pretty good? Not listened to it for many years though. 110 0
John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 05/06/2026Going to see him in Manchester next week, obviously. Seeing his dad in Bangor tomorrow night! 010 0
John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 03/05/2026I’ve long thought the same. Seen him several times and going to Manchester this June. I wonder if he ever thinks “forget making tunes everyone should love, I think I’ll do a free jazz album next”? 110 0
John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Beat Instrumental! As a teenager in Southport in the 1970s I devoured copies of this with its mythical tales of Coloursound Tonebenders, Hagstrom Vikings and Carlsboro Hornets. This looks brilliant Chris, I’ll tell all my friends. 110 0

John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Brilliant this Andy. Thank you. No doubt in my mind that Neil’s genius is taken for granted. Also, CH one of the best live bands ever, which it also seems isn’t recognised enough. Couple of my mates in NZ seeing the Enz in May. I’m not at all jealous. 110 0

John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 02/03/2026That’s terribly sad news. I remember seeing Max Webster in Liverpool in 1979 and thought they were great. “Sun Voices” is one of my all time favourites. 000 0

John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 19/12/2024YES! Let ‘Em In did it for me too, for very similar reasons, childhood memories of hearing it on the radio, as well as the song’s message and the line “Uncle Ernie and Auntie Gin”. 020 0

John McGrath @muchheavierlive.bsky.social · 12/12/2024May I suggest Todd Rundgren’s run of albums between 70-74 Chris? After that his quality control starts to slip IMHO but I love his initial period. 010 0
