Yup, was at both shows as well! Those guys make me think of the drummer friends I had back in school. I'm sure they must be losing their minds right now.

This album is great and sounds a LOT like Ben Kweller, which is of course a very good thing.

In retrospect, that moment looks like the moment Gen X musical values started taking a backseat to Millennial values in music discourse. (I wouldn't put it quite as roughly as "authenticity" and "indie cred" vs. "communal joy" and "no scene but the internet" but its along those lines.0

Banning the existence of Panhellenic fraternities would not solve every problem on every campus, and certainly not the existence of sexual assault, but when you've got a mosquito infestation it doesn't hurt to go right for the biggest pools of stagnant water

This photo of Zohran hanging out with TV on the Radio, and Tunde showing love to Desert Island comics, healed me. I wonder if Zohran was also at the Music Hall of Williamsburg show in 2011 where Das Racist opened. Probably, right?

They've had their ups and down, like all long-running career artists, but this year The Strokes, Interpol, Jack White, Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse all came back with very strong albums. So there's just no excuse for this awful new Bloc Party album. None at all.

At least one of the candidates who tries to win the Republican nomination in '28 will run on some variation of "household voting" (i.e., taking away women's right to vote). That person may not seize the nomination, but they'll get closer than many might expect.

But only Tony Scott has the courage to make a film, Domino, where the main character is in a total jam that they can't get out of, and then, for some reason, Tom Waits shows up to drive them away. No explanation offered. That's real genius right there.

It's actually a feature, not a bug, that BlueSky is a watered-down version of Twitter. This site is for people at a different stage of their lives, taking care of themselves, eating well, doing yoga…but they still like to post a bit and have fun from time to time.
