I really liked Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Shame it gets a bad wrap

In this chart I have all my colors along each axis, and where they meet it shows the mix. So the “pure” color is along the diagonal. Since each mix ends up on the chart twice, The bottom is a strong mix while the upper one is a little lighter. Most of the time my swatches aren’t so organized!

Of course! It is pretty much a drill/exercise to get used to the range of color mixes in the kit I take with me to do field sketches. I’m a student and accurate color matching can be tough, so this reminds me how to get close to a weird green or how certain colors mix.

When I was little I loved the Jerry Lewis movie “Who’s Minding the Store.” It seemed so fantastic. We had a home town version, Holman’s in Pacific grove California. It had 4 floors with furniture, sporting, and clothing. I remember getting my scout uniform there before it closed in the early 90s

I’m working on a new color chart of basic mixes for my current watercolor palette. First row done! (7 of 21). The greens are getting really nice.

Several sheets of paper with color charts are shown alongside watercolor paints. Each chart shows color mixes with the other colors in the palette.

The idea that everyone left of center needs to listen to advice from right of center persists, is ridiculous, and has no equivalent opposite; I tend to think it's from casting Democrats as the wives and Republicans/the right as the husbands in some sad throwback father knows best way.

This came across my feed a while ago and I shared it in my typography class and we were all like “I never noticed that!!” And now it’s something I see. It’s cool seeing comic typefaces with both glyphs. Made me want to try lettering a comic for real

I understand the collective reaction to this event, but I haven't yet seen any analysis of the environmental impact of this. Military operations in general are a hugely under-reported global driver of climate collapse. So let's talk about it. Here's a thread on the Kapotnya refinery. 1/

witches 🌸💜 (drawn by a trans woman, if you wanna support an other world of witches & wizards than a certain one)

Colored piece, drawing of a woman in modern clothes, jean shorts,t shirt, barefoot, with a crown of thorns on her head, wielding magic, giant flowers with an eye at their center in the dark background

Color piece, drawing of a witch floating in the night sky, surrounded by glowing purple/pink swords she just summoned, a real giant rapier hovering next to her, her long curly hair almost wrapped around its blade
She has roses and thorns tattooed on her right upper arm, glowing magical patterns on the left one, a white tank top, skirt, tight with floral patterns, no shoes, and a fierce expression on her face
Pink moon and purple clouds in the background

color piece, drawing of a young, curvy witch sitting on the floor on a glowing green pentagram or magic sygil of some sort, she's surrounded by plants and flowers and darkness, and skulls with their ribcage and spines are floating next to her, a green flame on their forehead
the witch wears a pink/orange/salmon crop top, a transparent fluid skirt with plant patterns on it, glasses, necklaces and earrings
her hair is tied in a loose bun
she has flowers and eyes tattooed on both shoulders/arms, also more plants on her left upper thigh and hip

Drawing of me as a witch floating in the night sky, wielding necromancer magic, holding a skull, wearing a witch hat, spiderweb pattern tights, a jean jacket, fishnet top, big goth shoes

I haven’t played Power Grid but all of those are very solid choices! For newbies they can be picked up quickly too. I prefer Ticket to Ride to Cataan but those are easy. I love Star Realms soooo much so I will say that is good too for odd players that are waiting for longer games to end .

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous this is worth sharing and educating people about

screenshot of a post on facebook from Alex Lamoreaux, depicting two versions of the "same" photograph of a bobcat in front of a pine plantation, one labeled original game cam photo, one labeling AI processed

the markings have been altered on the AI photo, and the head changed and resized

text says:

Oh! A neat goose hybrid posted to ‘What’s this Bird?’ but when you zoom in on the photos the bill details have been too manipulated by AI photo editing to be accurately assessed for which species may be involved.
Scroll on… A cool-looking Red-tailed Hawk that someone is wondering which subspecies it might be - right up my alley! But when you zoom in on the photos literally every feather group has been so heavily manipulated and altered by AI editing that it’s impossible to determine subspecies because the photo is essentially fake now; just a mashup of whatever AI thinks parts of a Red-tail should look like.
Scroll on… WOW! That’s a remarkable trail cam photo of a Bobcat! It almost looks like a painting!… but the head looks oddly small…. hmmmm. After some prodding the original photo is produced and sure enough it had been so heavily altered by AI ‘post processing’ that the photo posted was essentially a digital mock-up with totally different proportions and fur markings. No longer the photo off the trail cam; it may as well have just been ‘created’ by AI from scratch.
This stuff is killing me. My days on social media are becoming very limited. We can’t even trust simple, everyday photos of animals to be real. The wildlife community needs to quit editing with AI, and we need to start calling out photographers that are using it. Our reality is being destroyed all around us.

I love that red! We have some bright green lichens and moss around campus (central coast California)

Bright yellow-green lichen grows on an aged gray fence with narrow vertical slats. Spanish moss is taking hold in some places. Crimson colored fall leaves peek above the fence in the distance.

“I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.” aphyr.com/posts/397-i-...

I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.

Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again.

An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next.

Understand what it is to pray in Chicago.
