Former FTC Chair Lina Khan is absolutely right. We need to enforce existing laws on the books so AI companies and executives don’t continue to operate without accountability. Congress must also regulate AI just like we have historically done with other emerging industries.

When Congress appropriated this money, it was intended to fund a wide range of research and projects. The Trump Administration cannot simply ignore Congress and withhold or redirect funds it doesn’t want to spend. It's illegal.
