Happy Thanksgiving! :) I photographed these turkeys at Ruckle Farm on British Columbia's Salt Spring Island last year. #Thanksgiving #Canada

For #TreeTuesday: A few trees on a ridge in the harsh environs of the Mount Baker Wilderness of Washington State, USA. Note the man and his young son in the bottom left, for scale. The background are the lower slopes of Mount Baker. #Landscapes #NorthCascades #PNW
A relatively barren alpine landscape but with a small cluster of trees on the left side of a gentle slope from right to left in the foreground. 3 of the trees are much taller than the other handful of trees. The background is the rocky slops of a mountain, no vegetation, and a small amount of melted fresh snow and glaciers.

For #TreeTuesday: a photo I made a few years ago about this time of year. A view from a trail in the Mount Baker Wilderness in Washington State, USA. The slopes of Mount Baker (Komo Kulshan) are in the background. #Trees #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Nature #NorthCascades
A fir tree without many needles remaining on it sits in the middle of the frame, a hiking trail next to it. On the right is a slope with some blueberry bushes in red leaf foliage, and sunlight is lighting up taller, healthy fir trees on the left. Behind the middle tree is a landscape with very few trees, and the lower slopes of Mount Baker (Komo Kulshan) in the background, some glaciers at the top of the frame. Mount Baker is a volcano, and the surrounding area is at an altitude and environment that normally gets a lot of snow in the winter, so there isn't huge amounts of foliage on the rocks.

For #MountainMonday: Clouds clearing from Atwell Peak, part of the Mount Garibaldi Massif (Nch'ḵay̓) in the Garibaldi Ranges of British Columbia, Canada. #LandscapePhotography #Canada #Monochrome #BlackAndWhite
Black and white photograph of a pointy, almost triangle shaped, mountain peak with a bit of fresh snow on the peak and sides. The foreground is a ridge of trees and the sky is cloudy, with clouds/fog rolling around the peak and covering one side, including the rest of the massif this peak is a part of.

Hi! If you want to support cancer research, I'm doing the Terry Fox run for a second time this year, and every dollar raised goes to cancer research at the Terry Fox Foundation. We're now over a BILLION dollars raised for cancer through Terry's name. Let's raise more. Tax deductible in Canada.

The foreground is a marshy lake, with some floating logs, and reflections of the grasses, small red shrubs, and various conifer and colourful (mostly yellow) deciduous trees beyond the water. On July 23, 1983, Air Canada Flight 143 took off from Montreal on a flight to Edmonton. Halfway through the flight, while at 41,000 feet, the Boeing 767 ran out of fuel, forcing a landing at a racetrack in Manitoba. This is the Gimli Glider story. 📸 Wayne Glowacki 🧵1/20
The photo depicts a historical scene involving the "Gimli Glider," a Boeing 767 aircraft that famously glided to a safe landing after running out of fuel. In the image, the aircraft is positioned in the background with its nose elevated and wings spread, parked on a runway. In the foreground, two open-wheel race cars are visible, with people in racing suits attending to them.

As Germany sees similar temperatures I'm brought back to the heat dome we had in BC 5 years ago. 610+ people dead in a weekend, almost a million farm animals, billions of intertidal zone organisms - one of the worse natural disasters Canada has had. I hope Germany et al. escape similar outcomes.

Vine Maples (Acer circinatum) bent over with age and the weight of a sizeable moss collection in a British Columbia Forest. Older Vine Maples typically do this, and are capable of rooting from the branches again if they are touching the ground. Twenty-Twenty Five
Yearly favorites were harder to choose this past year simply because there weren't many exposures overall. I imagine that's an inherent problem with these yearly favorites posts. It emphasizes product over process in a culture that demands constant output. It can leave one with self-imposed judgment of what a "good crop" is. However, as with the rotation of our planet and our four seasons, patterns of life and nature are just points on a looping circle rather than a straight line of peaks and valleys.
