#Violas These lovely little #flowers are like tiny Pansies in shape & colours. These are just a few of the ones newly planted in our sm. front #garden Much needed sources of pollen & nectar for🐝now that most other #plants are done for the season. #Garden4Wildlife #bloomscrolling #photography -amb

A swathe of Sun-dappled Violas amidst the remaining leaf litter (& many rocks that came w/the poor soil that surrounds all the housing around here). Any soil enrichment we do have has been done by adding lots of compost, as well as leaving fallen leaves to rot down & or be eaten by slugs & snails. This helps enrich the soil immensely. These are just a few of the many Violas amb has planted in a variety of shades of deep and light purples, yellows, even a blue one (in one of our pots out back-photo to be posted another day). All have tiny golden yellow centres, ready for hungry over-wintering bees & pollinators. Please Garden For Wildlife, however you might be able to. If you can try a pot of flowering plants-place in partial shade if it’s still hot where you live & keep well-watered; deadhead spent flowers to encourage new blooms. Put out a source of water in shade- a deep saucer or the kind of tray used under pots for drainage will do, as long as you keep it clean & full of fresh water. Place a couple small rocks in the water for bees (yes they do need a drink, but also need a way to climb out & fly free) as well as birds, who need water both for drinking and bathing. If you have a secure place to put up a bird box or bug/bee hotel (up high & out of direct Sunlight) that can help too. Any of these measures can help provide food, shelter & life-saving water for wildlife around you.🙏~💞💚
