i think one way of benchmarking whether a work of 'lovecraftian' fiction is going to have something worthwhile to say is seeing if it it has you go to not-innsmouth and mow down the fishmen, i.e. the spectres of lovecraft's fear of miscgenation

I'm really upset about the Discord bullshit because here's been my experience with Root: - Messaging stuff is fine. It's basically where Discord was back in like 2018. - Audio is abysmal. 1-2 second delays, crackling, taking many seconds to connect. - Somehow uses more resources than Discord.

This event was quite possibly the worst. The gameplay itself wasn't the issue so much as the fact that the rounds were practically stuck going at the same speed, so the average game was often 20+ minutes long! 20+ minutes just to basically stare at my screen or do something else entirely
