Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 14/10/2026I rather enjoyed it, though it felt like a stage play they decided to film instead. 000 0
Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 12/10/2026To be fair, I read 'The Naked Jape' and though interesting, it didn't really get beyond what you cover in the first chapter of 'Be Funny...'. And anyway, I imagine Carr's book will be hooked into the CBT market he's been wanging on about. 010 0
Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Watched #MatchboxTheMovie last night. Silly, derivative but fun nonetheless. Couldn’t stop thinking that if they wanted to make a film about Matchbox cars, why didn’t they just remake The Cannonball Run?static.klipy.comBurt Reynolds & Dom DeLuise: Cannonball SlapAlt: Burt Reynolds & Dom DeLuise: Cannonball Slap 010 0

Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Seen a number of AI clips and they always seem so staid. I think's because there's a disjoint between creator and creation. If you draw, you engage with the materials, filmmakers with camera, musicians with instruments. With AI you have to translate that into a typeable phrase. There's a disconnect. 101 0

Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 06/09/2026You have to have the puppet. The reactions give life to the creation. I remember seeing Kermit being interviewed. Even with Jim Henson sitting there, they still talked to the frog. 000 0

Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Two points: 1, Play is vital it’s how we learn; “adults” dismiss it as it’s hard to quantify and test. 2, For good or ill, gaming media has been foundational for YouTube where there is an individual link to the audience, unlike broadcasters who can’t see how this would appeal to a mass audience. 010 0

Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 18/08/2026As a young thing, I dropped reading comics as, having only enough pocket money for 1 or 2 comics a week, being locked into buying multiple (often dull) issues over a number of months just to keep up didn’t cut it. Did I miss out? Possibly. Did I miss out. Nah, there’s a whole world out there. 010 0
Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 15/08/2026The ‘Jaws’ effect… they were unable to make the film they wanted, but the restrictions forced them to concentrate on character and tone and we care about them. The new version changes stand out as they add little to character, pushing it out the way to say “look, flashy lights!” 030 0

Mr Ross Burman @mrrossburman.bsky.social · 05/08/2026With The Odyssey being pushed as a film you *have* to see in IMAX, I’m sure old classics could be marketed as something to watch on the big screen. First time I ever saw Singing in the Rain was at the BFI and remains one of my great cinematic moments. 010 0
