iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

The view on my way to the last day of my internship this morning (... It was quite a bit dimmer in person, hence the streetlight still being on).

The view from the sidewalk of an overpass of a wealth of nearby trees in resplendent autumn colors, a streetlight illuminating the highway below, and one of those huge metal frame things that holds up power lines. The sky beyond shows delicate sunrise tints.

Le Guin on the idea that there is a secret to getting good at writing.

I will dispose of the first myth as quickly as possible. The “secret” is skill. If you haven’t learned how to do something, the people who have may seem to be magicians, possessors of mysterious secrets. In a fairly simple art, such as making pie crust, there are certain teachable “secrets” of method that lead almost infallibly to good results; but in any complex art, such as housekeeping, piano-playing, clothes-making, or story-writing, there are so many techniques, skills, choices of method, so many variables, so many “secrets,” some teachable and some not, that you can learn them only by methodical, repeated, long-continued practice — in other words, by work.

A photo from yesterday morning of part of the park I’ve been interning at. My last day is tomorrow!

A gravel road and a manicured grass field in shadow, and beyond them a low red building and multiple trees in resplendent autumn colors, practically glowing in the light from the sunrise. The sky beyond is clear and pale blue.

QRP your art with insanely strong silhouette! This is one I made as a kid, so not reflective of my current style, but it's the most silhouettey image I can think of. Made the night I found out Steve Irwin died. I listened to a cover of "Blackbird" on repeat for hours while I drew it and cried.

Silhouette of a blackbird flying out of tangled underbrush against a warm glowing background.

To celebrate beginning my edits for SPACE ANGELS (real title pending), I did the character portraits for the main cast. If you want to learn more about them, I'll be posting more next year! For right now, have their lovely faces. Albireo in the center, Alya to the left, and Syeir to the right!

a digital illustration of the main cast of SPACE ANGELS by S. Jean. There are three individuals against a basic background of dark purple with a lighter purple to draw the eye. Starting from the left, there is a short young woman with short and messy black hair, tan skin with freckles, and green eyes. She is wearing a white and black body suit underneath a vibrant yellow jacket. She looks off to the left and has her arm bent across her torso as her glove shows a small screen. The middle is the main character and they are standing with their hands cupped as something glows within their palms. They have pale skin, lavender hair that's side swept to one side, and spectral hued eyes that bleed from orange to purple. They are wearing a set of pauldrons with feathers peeking out while a sheer cloak hangs from it. Their body suit is black with white sleeves and they have colorful sashes across their waist. They are looking to the right with a small smile. The last character to the right is a tall man with the same features as the young woman, except he has beads in his hair and tucked behind his ear. He is grinning and has his hands on his hips. He is wearing a vibrant red jacket over a black body suit. Around his waist is a blue sash and belts.

your response to “I was raped” should not be “I was right”

4 panel comic

Panel 1:
A Purple Woman looks distraught, on the verge of breaking down. She says “that man raped me”
Orange Guy standing next to her is absent-mindedly checking his nails. He says “Wellll, I’ve always disliked him and his work.”

Panel 2:
Purple Woman begins to cry. Orange Guy adopts an incredibly smug expression and says “Guess I must just be a good judge of character”

Panel 3:
Purple Woman dissolves into sobs. Orange Guy notices, puts his hand on her shoulder and says “Aw”

Panel 4:
Purple Woman crumples to the floor. Orange Guy, looking bemused, asks “Are you crying because you’re jealous of how smart I am?”

Even if you don't give a shit about the ethics, hazing novice users until they cry is no longer a *materially* effective means of gating access to information technology when they can just go ask the robot. Sure, they're not learning that way, but they weren't learning anything from you, either, so.

🌸The ladies and Mog of Final Fantasy VI 🌸 🖌️: acrylic gouache+gouache on 300gsm watercolour paper I think this might be my favourite piece yet 💚💛❤️ ⟡ #finalfantasy ⟡ #FF6 ⟡ #art

Acrylic Gouache+gouache painting of the main female cast of Final Fantasy VI along with Mog
they're all floating to a black background with details of flower petals, white dots and opal-colored sprayed dots.

On top is Terra, a pretty young lady with green wavy hair, wearing her red dress with flower patterns, pink pastel stockings with flower patterns, pastel purple cloak and red boots with golden decals. She is sitting comfortably, and Mog is next to her.

Celes is sitting on the right side, wearing her Amano inspired outfit with a purple tank-top, yellow west and trousers and white boots with decals on it. She has long blonde hair, and wearing a fancy hair ornament.

To her right and in-front of Terra is Relm, a child with blond curly hair and a big smile. She is wearing a big red beret with pattern, a yellow cloak connected to her necklace, a black tank-top, red puffy trousers with star pattern and red boots. She is holding a big painting brush with her left hand.
