President Donald Trump has taken his Republican midterm rescue mission to Nebraska. Trump blamed Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries for rising U.S. fuel prices, even as the Iran war has disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, which carries about one-fifth of global oil shipments. Blaming an ally defending itself from foreign aggression to deflect from your own actions is so Trump.

The White House barred Politico from Monday’s Air Force One press pool even after a judge ordered its White House press access restored. The administration says airplane access is different. Conveniently, that distinction (which was not made by the court) keeps producing fewer reporters.

The Supreme Court sent a Venezuelan TPS case back for reconsideration after its recent immigration ruling. TPS protects people from deportation and provides work authorization. When hundreds of thousands’ legal status can hinge on emergency SCOTUS orders, “temporary” starts sounding permanent.
