Hegseth got the job not because of his clown antics on Fox News but because during the first term he made it his personal crusade to get Trump to pardon war criminals who had murdered civilians and desecrated corpses. That’s who he is and it’s what Trump hired him to be.

Sorry, you've always struck me as a valuable critic (love your work either way). Nevertheless, the framing, and the viciousness of the act, do not seem to play favorably to the polling, and, as barbaric as it is, seems poised to backfire. Political ploy? Yes. Miscalculated, I'd say absolutely.

I don't know why Spielberg backed Zaslav. I'd love to talk to him about it. Spielberg is one of my heroes. He miscalculated, and the industry is now speed-running toward ruin. His last act must be one of industry salvation. There's no way he doesn't care.

Spielberg must answer for this. He propped Zaslav up.

Thousands of people lost their jobs (including me!) under Zaslav and thousands more will lose it under Ellison. But at least these Big Boys get to play dress-up as moguls, the only thing that matters to them.

Selective Outrage is a massively disappointing outing from a comic who has apparently lost his touch.

Or they'll survive and we'll get IP-branded films devoid of substance. There's no good way forward at present. Spielberg could speak up, but that ain't his style. Nolan may have more clout nowadays.

HEAVEN'S GATE is a legendary bomb, but I'll forever cherish the evening I spent at the Aero Theatre with my friend Kevin, where we watched the 219-minute cut. It's a sui generis piece of cinema. These companies can withstand bombs. But they will die a depressingly slow death via the IP IV.

“This is too big a job for Josh and Dana,” says one Paramount insider. “They don’t have the chops. And David doesn’t care. He just cares about loyalty. Producers can’t stand them — they just roll their eyes. In terms of quality control, it’s going to be a disaster.”

My Spike Lee interview is one I'll cherish. I watched him lose his shit courtside at a Knicks game. Next day in L.A. (@ the OLDBOY press day), I pressed him on an iffy foul on Carmelo. We got into it. "Oh, you think LeBron is coming back to Cleveland?" I explained exactly how that would work. I won.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

I've been covering the death penalty in depth for a dozen years now, and few nights have been as disturbing and dispiriting as tonight. This was a moral, ethical, and legal failure on several different fronts from many different actors. It wasn't *just* SCOTUS, though they sure were a key part.

After SCOTUS allowed Tennessee execution to go ahead, Tennessee botched the execution
SCOTUS, over the liberals’ dissent, cleared the way for Tennessee to kill Christa Pike. The alarming order from DC was followed by even more disturbing developments in Tennessee.

It depends on the kind of movie you're making. I will forever maintain that an action-comedy like TURNER & HOOCH left money on the table by killing Hooch. Meanwhile, the post-apocalyptic I AM LEGEND is the kind of movie where the dog has to die to deepen the protagonist's isolation.
