70 years ago today, the BBC showed a recording of the CBC's Flight into Danger - later remade as the film Airplane!, and one of the important steps on the way to the creation of #DoctorWho. To celebrate, here's a much longer edit of my audio documentary telling Flight into Danger's story:

Kit Pedler, co-creator with Gerry Davis of the Cybermen, and scientific adviser to the series, dies aged fifty-three. Enjoyed reading the second part of @mpseely.bsky.social 's feature on THE ESCAPE OF RD7 on his substack. Michael novelises the script in a gripping fashion - but that cliffhanger: I can't imagine what it was like seeing it in 1961. Just reading it: Barbara, no, no!

I enjoyed reading the first part of THE ESCAPE OF RD7 (starring #BarbaraMurray) which I found tighter than THE MONSTERS. Interesting that Murray's character should be researching the trachoma virus, which we're sadly still familiar with via the charity ads on Talking Pictures TV.

Devil's Planet is simply stunning. A few moments where my jaw dropped. I also came away from these episodes (and a rewatch of Armageddon in between) regretting how Katarina could have been developed into something truly special. I note she has been given small hand acting too.
