Thank you @omarfatehmn.com! You ran a campaign that put residents first, inspiring working people across the city, energizing a new generation of leaders and reminding all of us we deserve a City that works as hard as we do. You raised the bar and set a standard for what our city can be.

“Instead of being powered by people and guided by principles, Frey became the embodiment of an establishment candidate running on hypocrisy and realpolitik.” This election is about backing a grassroots movement or capitulating to the same old corporate politics as usual. buff.ly/FSXSjbK

Frey is counting on the fact that Fateh will be attacked for being Black, Somali, Muslim, immigrant and a self-described Democratic Socialist. He – and the PACs that support him – use dog whistles because the ends justify the means (and get away with it because everything from Trump and MAGA sounds like a foghorn). If Frey wins, his realpolitik will serve as the playbook for establishment Democrats whose only goal is a return to power. If Fateh wins, the lesson will be that a return to power is not enough." While the housing cost burden is easing overall, it’s not the case for lower-income renters, the authors write.

Investing in housing that renters can afford is the best way to stop homelessness. Luckily the progressive majority on City Council has passed a number of important renter protections, but there’s a lot more we could do if we elect a new mayor who is willing to work for renters.
Mpls for the Many logo with the following text below: "High rents directly lead to eviction and homelessness. As the city struggles to tackle persistent homelessness, the best way to stop homelessness is to prevent it from happening in the first place." Frey has worked hard for developers, but the results haven’t trickled down to working families who rent. New research from experts at the U shows that “over 80% of lower-income Minneapolis renters were cost-burdened in 2023.” Over half of Minneapolis residents are renters and Frey is failing them.
