If a race happened to run into overtime (really?), NASCAR has a flag for that too.
The Green/Red rule is a series of flags that if used, actually determined the starting point for the race to continue.
Now, to me, it just makes plain sense to continue the race from the starting
point, but not so said NASCAR, who would continue the race at just about any point on the track. This ended up confusing and frustrating drivers and fans alike because no one could tell who was doing what or who was in the lead.
Finally, in the middle of 2017, someone had a common-sense idea to stop confusing everyone and mark a standard starting point.
