The biggest threat to Canada at this moment may be Alberta voters who believe media messaging that the referendum vote to separate will be easily won, leading no-voters to stay home. It’s true that separatism is very unpopular in Alberta, even with Conservatives. BUT TURNOUT WINS ELECTIONS. Vote.

The Republic begins with four words: katebēn chthes eis Peiraia. We might say ‘Yesterday I went down to the Piraeus.’ Ancient sources report that Plato had written out the words in several different orders. His final choice puts katebēn (‘I went down’) first. Why?

@ChrisCorrigan Like most people, I took out a loan to buy a house, but I can buy books with my ongoing income. The government of France, I see, has an annual revenue of €269B, so they could probably build schools and roads without borrowing. Maybe not hospitals or nuclear power plants.

@dansup I've been wondering whether the Fediverse is growing, shrinking, or stable, and the answer of course depends on what timeframe we consider. 😉 But it would be nice to be able to go back five years to have a bit more data.
