I usually get pretzels when I go to bars or breweries Today I'm at Short's Brewing in Bellaire, MI 4/5 pretzel. Could be a bit softer, but still very good. Mustard dipping sauce is excellent, garlic butter is also really good. PB+J is interesting but still good.

I feel so powerful This ribbon cable (for connecting SNES controller ports to the mobo) lost the plastic backing, so all the pins were just flayed out and loose So I taped a notecard cutout to the back and bent all the pins in place against the notecard, and it slid in securely and works great!

I rarely use IMDB, but I searched Bluey's mom's voice actor, clicked on the IMDB page, and it *automatically* signed me up for an account. I got a welcome email and everything. And now I had to *REQUEST* account deletion (it's pending). (I guess IMDB was bought by Amazon, which I was logged into)

I bought a ReMarkable e-paper tablet about a week ago, and I'm loving it. It really motivates me to take notes. It's probably part of the novelty so we'll see if it wears off, but for now, it's pretty great. I got the Paper Pro Move because it's easier to use with one hand than the big ones

I *think* the non-PCBWay files will be easier to handsolder the QFNs on (hot plate/air), but I'm not sure how much of an impact it has. Presumably, the lack of the mask between pins would make bridging more likely, but NSMD is supposed to make bridges *less likely* bc solder can hug around the pads

Unfortunately due to PCBWay's 0.22mm minimum tolerance for solder mask bridges, the NSMD style is not possible with bridges of solder mask between pads. So, I've had to cut out a whole section of solder mask for the PCBWay files. JLC's tolerance is 0.13mm worst case, so the left style is achievable

I've read through an appnote from NXP about QFN solder pads - and it turns out, there are two different kinds of solder pad lands: SMD (Solder Mask Defined) and NSMD (Non-SOlder Mask Defined). The NSMD is preferred, as you can see in this screenshot:

A slight update to the AGBM-02 files - I've made the pins on the CPU, RAM, and FFC connector all thinner to accommodate PCBWay's minimum solder bridge requirements. And in doing so, I learned something new on QFN packages! Annoyingly, though, that means I have now two sets of design files:

There are two main differences between this board and the previous AGBM-01: the -02 uses TI converter chips that are a bit easier to solder and regularly stocked, and there's space for the use of brand new RAM instead of relying on the donor. That means you can make one with *ONLY* the CPU chip.

The new Game Boy Enhance model, the AGBM-02, is finally here! This is a replacement board for the AGBM-01, and uses AA batteries. For the uninitiated, my Game Boy Enhance design is a circuit-level recreation of the original GBA - it requires the use of the original CPU, so it's not emulation! 🧵

Btw, I built up the AGBM-02 and have been running it for about a week, mostly because I was distracted by taking care of my cat and going on a short family vacation. But I should be releasing it soon. I want to assemble a full unit first and play it for a while just to do a bit more stress testing.

After a final weekend of not eating a lot and not being able to make it to the litterbox, & really not acting like herself anymore, we made the decision to stop her suffering. It's not a decision I would wish on ANYONE, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about her poor face as we let her go...

She was having a lot of tummy and IBS problems for the past 2 or so years, and over the last few months it just became too much. After many vet visits, trying a bunch of steroids and vitamins and new foods, nothing was making her feel totally better. Like Melvin, it was a roller coaster of emotions.
