Sorry, Webster. Most People Don’t Want Internet Slang in the Dictionary.
Static definitions of “rizz,” “goblin mode” and “beige flag” don’t easily explain the words’ meanings. But we could use reference formats that do.

All of my Jewish great-grandparents lived in the US in 1910. None of them was considered to be "white" in 1910. Today if I walk down the street in most places in the US, people will see me as white. Whiteness is not determined by genetics (as my family story demonstrates), but rather by culture.

My uncle bought me a Blondie LP when I was probably too young to have crushes. Or, at least, too young to _realise_ I had a crush if that makes sense? Anyway, Ms. Harry. For the (no pun intended) record, I absolutely loved the music too!

Hi Womble, I finished When There Are Wolves Again by EJ Swift. A beautifully told, timely, hopeful tale. it’s fiction but reading it while watching footage of entire ecosystems ablaze is chilling. it’s not just about big ideas; the personal tales truly brought a lump to my throat.

Morning, Womble, just finished RF Kuang’s The Poppy War which was really quite something and even more gut-punch brutal than I had thought. Imaginative and cruel. Perhaps I’m conditioned to expect heroes in fantasy but this book shatters that expectation. Next up something with a different tone!

Just finished Pagans by James Alastair Henry which felt like a late night thought-experiment that took on a life of its own. Sometimes nasty, often funny and frequently of the moment. Next up? The Poppy War by RF Kuang or maybe NK Jemisin’s The City We Became. There are other contenders, however!

Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.

They’re packaging it like this so it looks like a shallow trend, but Gen Z has gone through two financial crises, a pandemic, rising fascism, active shooter drills since they were toddlers, and are now being told by the oligarchy they’re to be replaced by robots. Socialism is the logical conclusion.
