I have invested the princely sum of £23.61 while they're still cheap, just in case those guys in China really do succeed in bringing back Polaroid pack film 🤞 It's in really good condition too, looks barely used. Not many genuine Hasselblad accessories you'll see for that price!
Close up photograph of the end of a Polaroid film holder for a Hasselblad camera. It is a sturdy looking rectangle of black plastic, not much to see really!

It looks in good condition, and has a badge that reads "100; HASSELBLAD; SWEDEN" and the brand "POLAROID" written below.

Ahh brilliant look who my September postcard came from! They must have crossed over as they travelled the world 😊 Thank you Kim, this was a cheering little package to get in the post this morning ❤️ #PostcardsFromAfar
Postcard with an envelope, a note and a sticker, all laid out on a desk.

The postcard is a black and white photograph of a buggy on a stormy beach, with a surfboard attached to the roof.

Underneath is a handwritten note on lined paper, the start of which reads "G'Day Morag, A short note from Perth, Western Australia."

The stamp on the envelope has a photograph of a small black and white bird and reads "POSTAGE PAID AUSTRALIA"

The sticker is a drawing of an old Polaroid camera

Oh yay it got there in the end! My husband sent me this picture when he posted it. It’s only a tiny little duck, must have taken it a long time to fly all the way to Australia 🐥
Photo of the same white and purple postcard, being posted into the slot of a classic British red post box. Balanced just above the slot is a tiny yellow rubber duck.

My immediate thought - these things become immediately inaccessible to so many people (like me!) who can’t queue for indeterminate lengths of time I literally called Dishoom yesterday to make sure we can get a late dinner tonight without worrying about the queue www.theguardian.com/food/2026/se...
Screenshot of a paragraph of text from the linked article. The highlighted portion reads: "We spend so much time thinking about how best to reduce the bottlenecks and make it more efficient. And even though most people are happy to be social in the queue and chat, we hate that it makes the bakery less accessible to people who can't physically stand for 40 minutes. When we had the heatwaves this summer, we would get people fainting, which wasn't good."

Sigur Ròs with an orchestra in Glasgow last night 🥹✨✨ Yes this is the same gig we saw in London. Yes I went again and I REGRET NOTHING. Would happily watch this every 6 months or so until the heat death of the universe Excuse the potato quality photo, I only had my phone with me this time.
Very low res colour photograph taken at a concert, from an aisle seat in an upper level, with a good clear view of the stage.

On stage is an orchestra, with a small choir off to one side, all dressed in black. They are difficult to pick out, but the three members of the band Sigur Ròs can be seen in amongst the orchestra, just in front of the conductor. Jonsi is standing in the centre, singing into a microphone.

The stage is dramatically and brightly lit, with smoke effects. The orchestra are mostly lit by white lights, while there is purple behind the choir. Blue lighting can be seen on the stairs in front of me. The rest of the room is in deep black darkness.

Absolutely magical evening last night at Jupiter Artland, celebrating my recent Big Birthday. Dinner in the woods with my favourite humans ❤️ Jupiter Artland is bonkers in the best possible way - highly recommend their wild dining experience if you're looking for an event that's a bit different!
Photo taken in the garden behind the café at Jupiter Artland, a sculpture park near Edinburgh. A woman is taking a photo of a sculpture on the lawn called "Piss Flowers" by Helen Chadwick.

In the foreground are a few pastel pink metal cafe tables and chairs on a brick laid patio area, with an expanse of lush green lawn behind. Dotted about on the lawn are a set of white structures that vaguely resemble flowers, each about a foot high. Behind the lawn there is a small slope, with a high green hedge behind surrounding the garden. The woman is standing just in front of the hedge - she is wearing a flowing pink pleated maxi skirt that exactly matches the pink shade of the chairs, balancing out the whole image nicely.Interior of Cafe Party at Jupiter Artland, designed by artist Nicolas Party.

The whole space is an art piece in itself. The walls are painted a bright pink, with bold colourful alien looking plants and fungi painted on them. The photograph looks towards a gable end, where a colourful, modern painting hangs showing a man with three birds sitting on his head and shoulders. In the foreground is a low hanging pendant light like a floating white globe, and some cafe tables and chairs. The chairs are all black, and the tables have more decoration on them in the same style as the walls.Close up view of a plate of food on a section of rustic wooden table in an outdoor setting. There is artificial garland of artificial greenery laid along the middle of the long table, and another place setting opposite has a slide of wooden log as a placement.

The plate has barbecued lamb chops, roast potatoes, lots of salad, sweetcorn and some home grown roasted heritage carrots in shades of orange, yellow and purple.A wider view of the dinner table in the woodland, with a metal firepit in the foreground.

A few people are sitting at the long table chatting, under a sailcloth canopy. It is getting dark and the area is lit with a string of lights. Sheepskins have bee laid out on the benches and a couple of the women have blankets round their shoulders. Lots of plants in hanging baskets decorate the clearing, and the trees of the woodland can be seen in the background.

OK I do have a Hasselblad question for the experts! (@nealhinkle.bsky.social this may be one for you) The back I bought with the camera works perfectly, but the second film back bought separately may be faulty or it may be user error... Pictures of it here for reference

Important update 👀
Hasselblad 501CM camera sitting on an elaborate slatted wooden bench with decorative cast iron end pieces, inside a glasshouse. It has a pretty tan leather camera strap attached.

The camera is a relatively large vintage medium format film camera, the sort you look down into. It is black with chrome edging that gives it a slightly art deco vibe.

So this is wholesome! My #PostcardsFromAfar postcard from June went on a little adventure on the way to me It was correctly addressed and sent from Illinois - then somehow managed to find it's way to Belfast, where some kind soul popped it in an envelope and forwarded it on to me in Glasgow
Colour postcard showing a view of a clear blue river flowing through a mountain valley.

The postcard is sitting on top of an envelope with a Northern Ireland postmark and a UK first class stamp, addressed "FAO: Morag"

Next to it is a page from a telephone message notepad, with the handwritten message: "Received your card by mistake so just posting forward to you. Lovely photograph." then something illegible (maybe a name?) and "Cheers from Belfast"

Made a friend on my walk by the canal yesterday. Turns out his name is Ziggy and he has his own Instagram! Also he gives excellent cuddles www.instagram.com/glasgowcanal...
Selfie taken from a low angle with a cat. The whole thing is very reminiscent of the “vibing cat” meme

The photo is mostly clear blue sky and a little bit of greenery - then just peeking in at the bottom left corner you can see the head and shoulders of me and a cat, both looking down at the camera.

I am a middle aged white woman with brown hair and glasses, and I am wearing a green shirt, black top and old school white-wired Apple earbuds. My face is half obscured the cat in front of me.

The cat is a slightly scruffy but very cute looking black and white cat. His face is mostly white, with black across the top of his head and ears, and around his left eye. His eyes are half closed

#BelieveInFilm friends! I have a Big Birthday coming up and to mark the occasion I am getting a very special camera. I need you to help me choose which one to buy. Requirements are in the screenshot here...but what my heart really wants is a Hasselblad So - is it a Hassy? And if so, which one?
What camera shall I buy?

Non-negotiable:

- Medium format SLR
- Modular system with plenty of options to add to it later
- Waist level viewfinder
- Interchangeable film backs
- Good quality / well built

Strong preference:

- Good macro lens available - or some means of getting close up
- Square format
- Not *too* hefty where possible (I realise this is relative)
- Decently weather resistant (I won’t take it diving but it does rain a lot here!)
- Can work without batteries / be all mechanical when I want it to be
- Some mechanism to alert me / prevent the shutter firing when the dark slide is still in!
- Multiple exposures possible
- Bulb mode

- SPACE CAMERA SPACE CAMERA SPACE CAMERA
- …it’s so pretty though!

Nice to have but not a deal breaker:

- Other aspect ratios available
- Eye level viewfinder available
- Built in metering

lol does this even exist?:

- A Polaroid back for the system would be lovely but I’m not sure that’s a thing!

Had an appointment over at Stobhill Hospital this afternoon, a new place to me and as it turned out a good opportunity to explore Springburn park, which is unexpectedly lovely
Photograph taken near the entrance to a park on a sunny spring day.

A path made of scruffy wooden boards stretches straight out in front, with trees and grass at either side. The path leads to a large round metal sculpture in the distance; it is almost circular, forming an arch of rusty metal over the path that acts as a sort of gateway to the rest of the park. The arch is just the right size for a tall human to comfortably pass through. Neatly framed in the centre of the circle is a small tree, dead ahead as you walk along the straight path.

Square format, untidy, grainy autumnal photograph, showing some reddish autumn leaves clinging to the branches of a tree. One large dappled red and orange leaf is clearly visible in the centre, and the rest dissolve into a sort of tangled mass of twigs and red leaves. The bottom and right hand side of the frame fade into a very dark shadow with green and purple undertones, white the top left part is a slightly sepia sky. A single blurry tree branch angles up into the corner.

Actually looking again at that autumn roll, I think that the scans were quite a bit overexposed and pulling them right back to match the low light at the time really brings the photos to life. Cross processed Fuji Sensia II again #BelieveInFilm
Close up photograph of a dried out fallen leaf in autumn, caught in the branches of an evergreen tree. The fallen leaf is a rich amber brown colour, and the evergreen leaves are a very deep emerald, almost blueish green tone.

The photograph is quite dark overall, with very deep shadows in the evergreen tree and the background - the only brighter spots are a bit of light in the top right corner, and a highlight on the top edge of the leaf.

An earlier version of this photograph was posted earlier today - it is much lighter in tone but I think less effective.

Photies! In colour! Been meaning to post these for ages... Very expired Fujichrome Sensia II 100, cross processed in C41 and exposed about half a stop under, all the way back in May 2022. The film expired in 2001, I'm not the speediest mover 😆 Looook at those colours though! #BelieveInFilm
Close up photograph of a small blossom on a tree in spring - I think it might be apple blossom. The flower itself is a soft muted pinkish colour with yellow stamens in the centre. There are other unopened buds behind it that are a darker, richer pink. The leaves are a deep rich almost blue-ish emerald green colour.

The whole photograph has a rich, deep, grainy tone to it.Close up photograph of a small cluster of leaves emerging from a bud on a tree in sprint. They are just beginning on open up, spreading outwards from a central point. The green tones are very rich and vivid, with almost emerald greens at the base of the bud - while the blurred background is lighter, with more yellowish tones showing through.Close up photograph of a small cluster of leaves on a tree, gently backlit by slightly muted watery sunshine. The leaves have a colour gradient from green at the base, through yellow and brown to deep red at the outer edges. One is facing directly towards the camera showing a very clear colour gradient and distinct veins, and the other is curled slightly upwards. The backlighting from the sun shows that they have fine 'hairs' at the edges which are gently glowing.Another photograph of similar coloured leaves, but this time with more flat light and viewed straight on. The background is a flat pale green, and there are three leaves in sharp focus with a very clear leaf structure and rich colours that range from deep green in the centre, out to a rich ruby red at the edges. The middle leaf is darker, and has almost purple tones in places.

I think a lot of it is light. I go looking for light, usually at the window! It's the same reason I break out lots of fairy lights in the winter, you'll see those featuring regularly too. In fact today is the day my fairy lights are going away for the summer
Contrasty black and white photograph of some decorative items on a bookshelf, lit by a string a white fairy lights.

On the front part of the shelf is a black ceramic cat and a lighter coloured ceramic Christmas tree shaped ornament. The glow of the fairy lights is reflected in the bottom part of the ornaments and picks out the details nicely, especially in the ceramic cat.

In the background are a lot of photography books, and a box of postcards that is stylised like an old box camera.

Anas Sawar does like a majestic low angle doesn't he? Compare and contrast.
Two current Scottish parliamentary election leaflets, held up in my hand against a blank wall.

One is from Scottish Labour, featuring leader Anas Sawar photographed from a low angle and gazing into the distance majestically, with his shoulders back and a mountain behind him. He looks like Brian Cox presenting a documentary about the universe.

The other is from the SNP, featuring leader (and current First Minister) John Swinney in a much less staged photograph, taken in what appears to be an ordinary garden with bushes behind him. He is smiling, and squinting slightly in the sun. It is taken from a more standard angle and generally just looks much less slick and majestic but more approachable

High contrast black and white photograph taken in an unkempt wooded park on a sunny winter day.

The photograph looks along a path through a line of trees, branches bare for the winter. Lying along the right hand side of the path is a very large fallen tree, with a row of large twisted branches disappearing off up the path to where the top of the tree would have been.

There is some scrappy chalk graffiti on the trunk in the foreground, and somebody has written "Dylan" on the closest branch.

The image has very dark shadows and bright highlights from the low winter sun, giving it quite a dramatic feel.

A square rusty metal object is leaning on the roots of a fallen tree, echoing the shape of the photograph. It may have been a cover for something industrial or a manhole at one time, it is perfectly square, and appears to have a raised ' frame' around it.

There is leaf litter and general forest detritus on the ground, and the dead tree root mass behind is covered in moss and plant materials. Everything is untidy and tangled.

At the top of the frame is a solid straight-edged black bar where the film scanner is slightly misaligned with the image, and at the bottom is a fuzzy-edged bright white bar where light got in at the end of the film roll.

I'm only able to do things in a small way at the moment so my tiny #FP4Party was just 1 (one!) roll of 120 film that I took to the park. This one is my favourite - you can almost *hear* it crawling towards you 💀 Bronica SQ-B with Zenzanon 80mm f2.8 lens @ilfordphoto.com FP4 Plus #fridayfavourites
Black and white photograph of the lower part of a tree in a forest clearing in winter, taken from a low angle.

The tree trunk is leaning backwards away from the camera at quite a dramatic angle, with roots reaching out towards the viewer. A large dead branch cut from another tree is leaning across the top of the roots, giving the sense that the tree roots are crawling out from under it to reach you.

Uhhh, hi Bluesky 👋 I made a post about space photography with a Nikon DSLR and now my notifications are melting... ...anyway, you should know that this afternoon I took a picture of a heron on 35mm film using this sexy boi from 1979. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
Olympus OM2n camera.

It is a vintage 35mm film camera from the late 1970s, very much in the classic SLR style

🖤 Since Fi has started a trend, here is a cow embracing her Emo phase
Highland cow in a muddy field on an overcast day. She has a large black plastic object on a heavy chain hanging around her neck, possibly some sort of cow handbag. She also has a heavy fringe covering her eyes.

Took the Bronica to the more unkempt wooded park for the second half of my one-roll #FP4Party today Offered a small curious child a look through the viewfinder and ended up with a whole woodland nursery politely queueing up to have a look 😆 Honestly I don’t even mind, it was kind of adorable
Bronica SQ-B camera on a rustic wooden bench in a woodland park.

It’s is a large sturdy-looking black vintage camera composed of a solid cube shaped body with large lens on the front, film magazine on the back and a viewfinder attachment on top

For no particular reason, I have been eyeing up Hasselblads recently 👀 Anyway I think the take home message here is never lend your Hassy to Michael Collins*. Losing one Hassy in space is an interesting claim to fame, losing two just seems careless kosmofoto.com/2020/02/the-...
Vintage advert for Hasselblad cameras. The picture shows a large black Hasselblad camera floating off into space after escaping the gloved hands of a spacewalking astronaut.

The text reads:

“The launch of the first Swedish Satellite.

We have the Americans to thank.

They have used Hasselblads on every manned space flight.

And on the whole, apart from those which they have left on the Moon, they have taken very good care of them.

One astronaut, though, was unlucky enough to drop his Hasselblad.

He was walking in space at the time, and it went into orbit around the earth.

Like all our satellites, it had taken a year to build, and it had undergone 20,000 rigorous tests.

But, three years later, it burnt up as it entered the atmosphere, and so ended the Swedish space programme.

However, we are still building satellites very much like it, to the same high standard.

They are available in all good photographic shops.

HASSELBLAD”

Don't want to alarm anybody, but I left the house today and went to the park to take some photos(!!) Trying out Harman Azure for a bit of wild colour adventure, and made a start on my one-roll #FP4Party I'm still relatively new to medium format and loaded the FP4 out in the wild - wish me luck! 😬🤞

🤷‍♀️
Photograph of a suburban canal basin, taken from the towpath.

On the tarmac in the foreground somebody has spray painted the word "SWAN?".

Swimming in the canal basin behind it is a big white bird that is quite obviously a swan.

I've explained this to you before Derek, those are ducks! Why are you like this?
Photo of birds in a suburban canal basin, taken from the towpath.

On the tarmac in the foreground somebody has spray painted the word "SWAN?" in block capitals.

The head and neck of a swan are just visible over the wall of the canal bank. It has turned to stare at a duck that is swimming towards it.The same scene, but this time a second swan has appeared, and they are looking at each other as if discussing the duck behind them.

I mean I think we all know the answer to that
Version of the Peter Griffin skin tone meme, where the skin colours range from “genuinely disabled” (white) down to “faking it” (brown)

Cartoon - A hand holds up a reference card showing a gradient of skin colours, next to a frowning white man. The gradient is labelled “genuinely disabled” next to the whitest skin tones and “faking it” next to the darker skin tones

Can confirm, it travels well! 😊
The back of a postcard from Jaya, that has travelled internationally from the US to Scotland.

It has the standard markings from having been through the post, but both the stamped 'postcard' markings and the handwritten text are clear and have survived well.

I have blacked out my addressThe front of the same postcard.

It shows a colour photograph of an old wooden shipwreck on a beach, printed on glossy photographic paper

Putting together an international postcard for this month's #PostcardsFromAfar exchange An international standard letter is now £3.40, which is conveniently exactly the same as two first class stamps (I hope!) ...turns out one of the stamp books we found lying around is older than the other
Back of an as-yet-unwritten postcard, held up in my hand.

It has an air mail sticker on it, and two UK first class postage stamps. One has a picture of King Charles III and the other has a picture of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II
