🌱🌾🌍🌺🌿🌲🌴Botanical University Challenge #BUC2025 Who was the first woman botanist elected #FRS to Royal Society? Agnes Arber - in 1946! Royal Society started 1663. Botany was major area of science. How many other women should have been elected over the centuries. Much wasted talent!

Historical botanical illustration titled "Pteridophyta und Anthophyta" from 1908, depicting various detailed colored and monochrome studies of Anthophyta, specifically orchid species from southern Brazil. Central images show three vividly colored orchid flowers with intricate petal patterns in yellow, brown, and red hues. Surrounding them are finely detailed monochrome sketches of orchid parts, including petals, leaves, stems, and reproductive structures, labeled with figure numbers. The illustration emphasizes morphological features for botanical study, combining artistic detail with scientific accuracy typical of early 20th-century botanical expeditions.
