and then it did, but not for her? which isn't necessarily better? and all of it added up to some weird commentary about her and her friend and their childhood, but also didn't add up? can't they just let a woman eat cereal and solve crimes and care about people in her own way????

right???? many things about what they did with her character this season did not thrill me, but this was the worst of them all. not everything is a bone-deep (and in this case nonsensical) trauma response! GOD JUST LET THE WOMAN LIVE

020

exactly!!!! I also just really loved that, on Reacher, she had her particularities - her cereal, her disinterest in being touched - but the show didn't need to pathologize or diagnose them. now we have to do super basic Trauma Made Her Like that and it feels cheap and underbaked

1100

it's just so CLOSE to letting me have a nice thing and then it takes the nice thing away with bad writing!!! but I will sit here. hoping. that the thing can be nice again. (and I do love the characters!)

050

the CULT!!! Why anyone was following that cut-rate 70s cartoon man I have just absolutely no idea. the charisma of a damp paper towel.

120

see, you have good ideas!!!!!

020

the MOST awkward, I was just cringing the whole-ass entire time. WHY

000

SIGH (I really like that actress, too; she was a delightful bitchy goth on Sabrina. All the bitchy goths on Sabrina were great, actually.)

060

I was DEEPLY confused by the first one! after that I was like "please these ads are too long, can I fast-forward," lol

030

SERIOUSLY. and he's not even very attractive!!! the only person on that show hot enough for her is Renee, but no, they had to make HER inexplicably kiss the dipshit youth???? WHY (we know why; strong women must be attracted to men or they're too terrifying. or something.)

‘Reacher’ Spinoff ‘Neagley’ Renewed for Season 2 at Prime Video

did I think much of this season was a hot mess that leaned too hard on making Neagley perform feelings in ways that seem contradictory to the character? absolutely. am I still psyched to see more of Maria Sten? absolutely.

hollywoodreporter.com

The spinoff of the action hit, starring Maria Sten, will continue.

well I need to do more of that anyway

I hated this from the get-go and then I hated it a little bit more with every subsequent sentence

020

this is what I'm afraid of!!!!!

better than two coup-planners?

Facebook is a hot mess of garbage that I only still have for very stupid reasons, but every so often it serves up something beautiful. I will probably never be anywhere near this coffee shop, but if I were, I would throw money at them

A facebook post from Caffe Lucca - which appears to be in Halifax - that reads "We don't use AI for anything, but we don't want to be left behind with so many restaurants churning out slick flyers. Here's our best made-by-humans approximation." The image shows a white person with short hair holding three paper coffee cups in about four hands. The fingers are all weird and the images have been pasted together badly. Down the left side of the image, a series of paper coffee cup sleeves have been written on. They say "coffee!" and "hurry!" and "cud" among other somewhat random and repetitive words.

there are moral arguments against the death penalty in its ideal form but in real life you never need to get there. the prior question is "can the state be trusted to end the life only of the rightly convicted without torture?" and the answer is no

somewhere, once, there was a post about how in every two-cat household there is one beautiful idiot and one creature that is planning a coup this is also true in my house

it's so good and I need at least, like, nine more books set in this world

(Wickhills is also a gotta-read book from this year but I have read that one! Everyone should read that one!!!!)

I don't know what's going on (I mean, I do, in the broader sense) but I feel like I'm missing everything. I don't know what the gotta-read books from this year are (except The Mulai and What We Are Seeking). I don't know what's coming out. I usually know this stuff! Please yell about books!!!!

all the blog post readings are my favorite, but I really love Premee's commentary here—both the salty-about-genre-snobbery bit and the idea of, essentially, taking Ursula's work as a mentor. there's something both comforting and inspiring about the whole thing.

070

hi, have you read this book? because you should read this book. also, Christopher Caldwell's introduction here is just wonderful.

0167

I appreciate the thought all the same!

010

I've bought it a lot but I've never had to actually USE it? If you have advice on that front I'm all ears! Like I don't even know if I cancel my flight first and then jump through the rest of the hoops???

I have to figure out how to make travel insurance work and uggggghhhh I'm preemptively tired

simon kinberg is one of the most confusing people in the whole franchise universe. this man ruined jean gray's most epic arc not once but TWICE! TWICE!!!! and yet he is also the co-creator of star wars rebels, a show I love with my whole-ass heart. how to reconcile these things??? how?!?!?!

080

Molly Templeton @mollytempleton.com · 27/09/2026

a whole-ass galaxy to play in and they're like hey. hey I heard you like this one thing so even though we turned that thing into a rancid sausage while trying to meet the worst fans' expectations, we're gonna do it again, cool? (rebels is the best stars wars, though, so I feel confused)

how am I? well, I'm farming the utterly impossible electric lizalfos tails in tears of the kingdom. that's how I am. so.

tough call whether my favorite Jeremy Saulnier movie is all of Green Room or that moment in Rebel Ridge when Aaron Pierre says "... but then I was like, naaaaaaah"

somehow it feels dismissive and disrespectful and that's precisely how I feel we ought to be toward the jumped-up chatbots and their creators

a friend of mine once, in all sincerity and/or obliviousness, called it "ChatGPS" and I have adopted that completely; I offer it up here for the rest of you to enjoy

I think the "debate" about bringing iced coffee to job interviews is effective at distracting people from the really bad job market, the high unemployment rate for Black women, ongoing mass layoffs in tech and media, and how Gen Z workers are refusing to adopt many toxic aspects of corp work culture

I am also sad about that! I have a plain old Switch but I deeply wish to (re)play Ocarina and also Wind Waker so ... someday I'll upgrade. I just want the THEMATIC upgrade.

I pre-ordered the game in a fit of optimism! I will just look lovingly at it, I guess
