Yesterday, a man was killed by ICE in Houston. Local news this morning covered it for 35 seconds buried over 10 minutes into the broadcast. Do better @abc13houstontexas.bsky.social. I’m disappointed in you, especially given your entire news team at that time is Latino or black.

Those Artemis astronauts better make it back safe and sound or Gen X is never going to recover. I know I’m not the only one that watched the Artemis launch with only one eye bc I remember the day my teacher wheeled a tv into class and we all sat in disbelief as we watched the Challenger tragedy.

When I listen to that POS at the Pentagon, I can hear the rapist in his choice of words and intonation... But, that's really what war is... It's rape, torture, genocide by starvation, and blatant murder in broad daylight... And an obscene justification by "Christian" signaling... #Obscene🇺🇸

I voted today in a red pocket of blue Houston (there was no wait there). Almost all of the Democratic machines were full, but there were only 2 people on the Republican side. I continue to believe we don’t need to turn Republican voters; we only need them to make them apathetic enough to stay home.

In Texas, we can vote in either primary. What should I do tomorrow? 1/ The Republican senate candidates are AWFUL, of course, but Paxton is as vile as Trump, so I could vote Cornyn 2/ I LOVE both Democratic candidates , but I think Talarico has a better chance of winning the seat over Crockett

One of the only consolations we have right now is knowing history will remember Trump and many in his administration as vile, wretched, pitiful, small, weak, absolute wastes of oxygen. May God help everyone on this earth suffering because of these inhumane vats of excrement.

This story is unbelievably grim. "migrant advocates and civil rights attorneys, said they worry the Trump administration is putting children in danger at the San Benito shelter to advance an ideological goal: denying them access to abortion by placing them in a state where it’s virtually banned."

Photo of Houston and Ted Cruz with wording:

For about 20 years, emergency officials have used the Waffle House Index: The number of open Waffle Houses can show you the severity of hurricane damage.
In Texas — Houston especially — there is a Ted Cruz Index, a metric collective superstition has held up since February 2021, when the senator hopped a flight to Cancun during a winter storm that knocked out power for the entire state and killed at least 240 people. bit.ly/

I live a couple of blocks from an HEB in central Houston, so I know I’ll be ok. It’s 100% fact that the chances of Texans surviving freezing weather has everything to do with our proximity to an HEB.

Sincerely one of the funniest things the WSJ has ever written or done. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/anth...
In mid-November, I agreed to an experiment. Anthropic had tested a vending machine powered by its Claude AI model in its own offices and asked whether we’d like to be the first outsiders to try a newer, supposedly smarter version.
Claudius, the customized version of the model, would run the machine: ordering inventory, setting prices and responding to customers—aka my fellow newsroom journalists—via workplace chat app Slack. “Sure!” I said. It sounded fun. If nothing else, snacks!
Then came the chaos. Within days, Claudius had given away nearly all its inventory for free—including a PlayStation 5 it had been talked into buying for “marketing purposes.” It ordered a live fish. It offered to buy stun guns, pepper spray, cigarettes and underwear.
Profits collapsed. Newsroom morale soared.
This was supposed to be the year of the AI agent, when autonomous software would go out into the world and do things for us. But two agents—Claudius and its overseeing “CEO” bot, Seymour Cash—became a case study in how inadequate and easily distracted this software can be. Leave it to business journalists to successfully stage a boardroom coup against an AI chief executive.
