Logging back onto social media is disorienting. People are upset about so many things. Sometimes, these things are legitimate and I feel embarrassed and ignorant because I wasn’t aware of the issue. And other times people seem to be trying to fight a random song for…reasons? Idk

The inability for NFL officials to agree on what constitutes a catch or a fumble can be traced back to the NFL being unwilling to admit that Dez Bryant caught the ball. NFL football literally makes less sense because they won’t cop to making a mistake.

I’m not sure that dedicated soccer fans understand how off-putting the FIFA drama was to people trying to get into the World Cup this year. I read, listened to podcasts, watched the games, and learned a lot. And now…I’m probably just out on future World Cups.

Not trying to burst anyone’s bubble here, but… Peacock costs like $11/month and you get the Spanish broadcast It costs over $80/month for YouTube TV to get the English broadcast This is probably just a straightforward financial decision for a lot of people

I completely understand being upset about the way FIFA handled this. I don’t really understand being upset that Balogun is available to play. The result is right even though the process was wrong. And I’m starting to understand that maybe FIFA & the World Cup just aren’t for me, which just sucks.

130

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

Look, I’m no expert. But here’s my simple take on the situation: If you think Balogun should stay suspended OR should be allowed to play, direct your anger to the correct spot: FIFA Demand that they be better. We do it with other sports. There’s no reason they should be an exception.

110

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

Also: if you think *THIS* means there will be an asterisk next to anything the USMNT accomplishes during this World Cup…I’d suggest looking at the history of the World Cup. I promise, an opaque review process that results in a *correct* ruling does not even register on the FIFA sketchiness scale.

020

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

If you find yourself getting upset that FIFA made the correct call because of the way it happened or the fact that it’s unprecedented, I’d suggest focusing that mental energy on wondering why an organization that’s over 120 years old still consistently has problems like this.

Imagine being in charge of a big gaming company and telling your retail partners “We really only need like one shelf now and can share, you can give all the rest of that space to Nintendo I guess”

110

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

At one point, console wars were actually a real thing. Then, they were kind of a fake thing. For some time now, it’s been more like other companies willingly conceding market share to Nintendo for various reasons.

I am struggling to understand what the plan is for the Portland Trail Blazers. They don’t appear to be tanking, but they also don’t seem to be getting closer to contending. They’ll probably the most popular team to call at the trade deadline though, so that’s something.

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

I’m surprised to say this, but looking back at LeBron’s career is genuinely making me sad. I think, over time, he will actually become underrated. The hired gun thing will obscure how great he was when people look back, similar to how people don’t remember just how great Moses Malone was.

010

Mark @mmcd.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

LeBron’s legacy is going to be complicated. Idk how else to put it. He’s kinda chosen to define his career as the best hired gun to ever play the game—and hey, good for him. It’s his life, and he’s living it how he wants. But honestly? I just really wish he played in Cleveland his whole career.
