Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on.

What a treat this was, although the talk backstage was mostly about the disconnect between the obvious enthusiasm in the crowd versus broadcasters’ total lack of interest in commissioning and supporting scripted comedy. Have a piece of the pie, you dummies! 🤷🏼‍♂️

Last week I chased up a commissioning decision which was supposed to have gone out by the end of July. This morning I found out it was a no, but nobody had passed the result on to me. Such a respectful industry, isn’t it? Really makes you passionate to continue writing up projects unpaid. Lovely.

I’ve been rereading a lot of Bradbury recently & noticed the date of There Will Come Soft Rains was coming up. It tells the story of an automated house that continues to make breakfast & clean, long after its inhabitants have succumbed to nuclear fallout I’d not seen this adaptation before! 👇

Bill Oddie, what a lovely bloke. He wrote us a letter when we started making The Young Ones, wishing us the very best, and warning us against interference from higher up. He didn’t know anyone in the cast personally. It just came out of the blue. Lovely thing to do.
