My instagram is full of amazing photos of Canadian fall and it’s giving me massive fomo. Anyway here’s a pic from a few years ago when I was able to spend the month of October working from my dad’s house near Montreal.
A small woods on a beautiful October day. The trees have just started to turn and the leaves are a mixture of green, yellow, and orange. A wooden Canadian flag has been attached to one of the trees.

Hahaha. My dad used to make the Christmas pudding each year, and we’d eat the one he’d made the year before. Luckily he never got the munchies in June!

NGL I could get used to doing my shopping before most things are sold out. And I speak as someone whose family didn’t used to decorate the tree until Christmas Eve.

Ah that’s all right. I was imagining a mouse corpse hidden somewhere, which would not be ideal!

I bought my first Christmas present (a calendar) about 10 days ago AND ordered wrapping paper on the weekend. I’m two months earlier than I’ve ever been and loving the feeling of being organised.

Displacing it outside might not be truly humane but I’ve had good success with humane traps. I caught one that was so happy to find food it didn’t care that it was being carried about in a box.

Our usual Evri delivery guy is lovely and reliable. He's a friendly face around the village. He must be on holiday because apparently someone attempted delivery today and left this photo as proof.
A photo of a driveway, probably mine but there are no features to confirm. The image is slightly out of focus and looks like when someone is just holding their phone and doesn't realise they've activated the camera.

I saw the LinkedIn post this article refers to as it had been liked by someone I knew from St Andrews. I was there 30 years ago and it felt like the class tension (while very noticeable) was not as acute as described here but maybe I was just naive. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

I think it’s a feature not a bug of the far right position that only some nationalities can be interchangeable with ethnicity. Both posts below are an excellent rebuttal to that.

This whole chapter on antisemitism in Berlin (and Germany) is very interesting. Here you see "handed-down antisemitism" (ie not post-colonial or other newer forms) over time. #Berlin really stands out.

This is actually a great point that the Bloc Quebecois leader (yes, really) made today. I'm paraphrasing from memory, but he basically said Carney is undoing stuff in minutes that took years to fight for.

I don't have the energy to rebut everything in this piece, but it reaffirms the impression that these people did not know or care how government works and never bothered to find out. The reporter's framing is pretty credulous "many people disagree" with stuff that is easy to fact check.
