This is good AI use. The Doña Ana County Clerk's Office partnered with USDR and built a bilingual Spanish–English elections glossary and a custom AI translation assistant tuned to it, then trained staff to run and maintain it. Their Spanish-language election materials have grown from ~50% to ~90%.

Pride started as an act of protest, but Pride is also a celebration.🏳️‍🌈 Pride doesn't end in June — we must continue to celebrate Pride and be joyful in the face of uncertainty and fear. Joy is an act of resistance. Especially in moments designed to create fear, joy becomes its own form of defiance.

There is no clearer case for the necessity of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 than how quickly southern states moved to eliminate Black-majority districts and dilute Black power after SCOTUS eroded Section 2. SCOTUS’s reasoning was immediately disproven by reality.

We must understand that the Voting Rights Act was not merely about ensuring Black Americans rights, it was about democratizing America. This ruling is not just a decimation of Black rights and Black Americans’ ability to have representation, it is a fatal blow to multiracial democracy.

One of the most clarifying passages I've ever read on what "polarization" actually means in the U.S."
Excerpt from the book How Democracies Die.

"America's democratic norms, then, were born in a context of exclusion. As long as the political community was restricted largely to whites, Democrats and Republicans had much in common. Neither party was likely to view the other as an existential threat. The process of racial inclusion that began after World War II and culminated in the 1964 Civil Rights Act and 1965 Voting Rights Act would, at long last, fully democratization the United States. But it would also polarized it, posing the greatest challenge to established forms of mutual tolerating and forbearance since Reconstruction."

Many years ago, my husband had a big Siri oops: Me: got dinner, heading home Him: you stupid b**** (He was trying to use Siri to reply, but she kept saying she didn't understand. When he cursed at her, that's when she replied. Thankfully, I realized this right away.) Today we have another one.
A screenshot of a text message thread between a husband and wife.
Him: Need anything else picked up on my way home?
Her: Just the Walgreens if you can, the link is above and it’s also in email with a list of the tiers
Him: Blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah blah
Him: Supposed to be bananas
Her: oooooh hahaha
Her: that’s almost as bad as the other siri one
Her: I was like ??
