M had this classic LotR poster alongside a bunch of strategic pictures of pretty men in a futile attempt to convince everybody including herself that she liked boys.

A photo of a classic 1970s Lord of the Rings poster, with a vintage hand illustrated style and a sepia tones colour palette. It features Gandalf and Frodo standing on a hill strewn with the bodies of soldiers with a landscape in the background. Bilbo sits just round the side of the rise with his pipe. There are double layers of decorative border. Somehow I (M) have found 8 out of the 9 White's Pocket Classics without spending a fortune! Unfortunately I fear the final book, Alice in Wonderland, will prove impossible. I have heard tell of only one copy, in a charity shop online, months after it sold, in the year or so I've been looking.

This is all very nice to see but it's not enough, not yet. The best way to prevent an extreme right wing government from taking a wrecking ball to our country, Trump-style, is still to reform our antiquated voting system BEFORE the next General Election.

Some polling data from a Lord Ashcroft poll that shows voting intention for the next UK General Election to be Greens 21.4%, Reform 20.9%, Conservatives 20.5%, Labour 17%, and Liberal Democrats 9.2%.

Just finished* Cairn, what a stellar game. Great mechanics (the climbing is vv satisfying, the resource management is tough without being impossible) but where it really shines is capturing Aava's obsession and the overwhelming awe - and price - of the climb. Absolutely gorgeous gamemaking.
