11in x 14in Acrylic Canvas. Two thunderbirds carve through a poured field of magenta, void-black, and electric green, their neon-outlined wings cutting the chaos into something that reads as flight. Below them the surface breaks into blues and yellows, the ground catching light through the weather.

The birds come from Choctaw storytelling, where a pair of enormous, intelligent birds were given the task of warning people on the ground that a storm was coming. Heloha, the female, lays huge eggs that roll across the clouds, and the rumbling of them is thunder. Her mate Melatha races to catch the eggs before they fall to Earth, moving so fast that the flashes of his passing are lightning. In this telling the storm isn't the threat. It's the message, and the two of them are the ones delivering it.
